Question about Programmer

I have an 05 Dodge 2500 4" straight exhaust and AEM Brute Force air intake. I am looking at buying a programmer but am teetering on the decision. Should I get a Smarty or an Edge Attitude. I want more power, turbo timer, and adjust on the fly. The same time I am going to add an AirDog to help with the injectors because this is a needed thing, right?:dixie:

Smarty all the way. Far as the airdog how big injectors you going with?

justinram 09-27-2010 07:32 PM

Not sure...What do you recommend?

CreeperSleeper 09-28-2010 01:21 PM

I'm in the same boat as you (it sounds like) but I think I've decided on the Edge. I really don't need what the Smarty has to offer as I'm not going for all out power... You are going to hear "Go Smarty!" all over the place but really think of your long term goals for your truck and what you want it to do for you. :rocking:

Farmboy 2.0 09-28-2010 01:37 PM

Either will be a good choice for you. Its all about what you want for your truck. The options the edge gives you are nice with the built in gauges and being able to adjust on the fly. For all out power the smarty hands down. For the airdog what are your plans for the truck power wise?
Or if you wanna get crazy stack em!!!:rocking:

Ive told creepersleeper the same thing on another board, check the local classifieds. I found both the juice with attitute and a smarty for a steal of a deal I couldnt pass up. Alot of people are trading/selling the old trucks for the new body style which means the goodies are getting sold off before they go to the dealership.

I want more power for the truck but wanna be able to adjust for towing and everyday usage. I like the Smarty but how hard is it to readjust? I like the turbo timer that is with the Edge. I don't know which one I want and was hoping for someone to pick one for me...lol. Anyways, thanks for the feedback.

since you said you wanted on the fly settings the only choice for the two you put up is the edge

diesel pap 09-29-2010 09:10 AM

i like both but i think if i was getting one for towing, i would get a smarty. it is cooler on egts.

justinram 09-29-2010 03:54 PM

Thanks guys...Does Smarty have a turbo timer like the Edge?

Farmboy 2.0 09-29-2010 05:06 PM

No they do not. Or at least not that i know of

crzycummins 09-29-2010 05:31 PM

you should be ok on egt's with the edge while towing...as long as you dont go too big with the injectors as they will raise the temps if you dont have enough airflow. but with the edge dont try to tow on the higher settings. thats where thing will really start to heat up. the smarty is more of a custom tune as opposed to the edge as well. do you have gauges now? if not then you should and the edge has those as well. lots of monitoring with the edge.

Just remember there are 2 versions of the Edge Juice with attitude. There is with or without turbo timer. The easiest way to tell between the two is the one WITH turbo timer has a plug going into the Juice box. you can disconnect the Juice module from its wiring harness than you have one with the Turbo timer.

So, are you saying that I can't get a turbo timer for a 04.5 and up Dodge in the Juice? The timer and the change on the fly are the only things that make the Juice better than the Smarty. I have done my research and am leaning toward the Smarty more and more. Yes, I will have to add a few extra things to the shopping cart such as gauges and turbo timer but, I want something that has as many settings and adjustability as the Smarty. Thanks guys on the posts, you all have really helped me. Anyone have any suggestions on type of turbo timer?

spike7ss 10-02-2010 12:20 AM

for the 04.5-05 trucks this is what you have too look for:

This is the Juice without turbo timer

This is the Juice WITH turbo timer

Notice the wiring plug on the juice WITH the turbo timer? That is the easiest way to tell weather it does or does not have the turbo timer.
