Easy (inexpensive) wheel hop / axle wrap fix?

The most annoying aspect of my truck reared it's ugly head again with the two back-to-back snowstorms last week. That is it's absolutely horrendous wheel hop/axle wrap. I have never been in a vehicle that bounces the way this truck does, even with 1000lbs of weight in the bed! After trying to get up my 100 yard long driveway after the 1st 16 inches of snow fell, I had to get out of the truck and piss blood from the kidney damage! (ok. slight exaggertion... but you get the idea).

I know I can't have the only 3rd gen that hops like this, so what have you guys done to fix, or at least tone-down, this problem? I know I can go the ladder-bar route, but that seems a bit extreme as I don't race or sled-pull with the truck. I've heard of clamping the leaf springs, but have read arguments from both sides on whether it's a good idea or not.

What do you guys have to offer?

Could try a new set of high quality shocks. My 2nd gen hops real bad as well and I am planing on new shocks, and bars for the fun of it! I have heard good things about Bilstein shocks.

Yeah. I thought about that a few years ago. Stockers were whipped anyway, so I put Bilstein's all the way around. Didn't make any differance.
