06 Intake

is it good to pull the inner part out or is this nessary to leave in. it is after the air box and before the turbo

Mine has been missing since about 10k, I now have 24k with no problems. It allows it to breathe easier and you can hear the turbo more.

I put a piece of 5" exaust pipe in place of the whole thing.

Pull it and scrap it!

dieseljunkie 10-20-2007 01:19 PM

yup, pull it. I haven't done it yet, as I am not sure of the best way to do that, but I plan on doing it soon...

The easiest way to get rid of the intake innerds. Go gown to your local semi dealer, pick ya up a piece of 5.5 (works the best) or 5'in aluminum tube/exhaust pipe. Cut it the length of the plastic intake, clean it and re-install the aluminum in place of the plastic. The lower elbow to the turbo to remove the inner air deflectors. Throw the boot in the dryer for 10min or so, remove and work the air guide/deflectors out of the elbow. Here is my finished product. I painted mine red. :choochoo:

Buckshotmckee, I'm ashamed to open my hood after looking under yours. Too many sand storms here to stay that purdy! I used schedule 5 PVC to replace mine. Didn't think about the lower elbow so I'll have to take a look at it. Like the hot red by the way. I went with black to not draw undue attention from the dealer but don't care anymore. Might paint the plastic valve cover as well. Thanks!
