Which Intake????
Looking at intakes and want to know which one is best for the money. Lookin at AFE, Volant, maybe Banks, and others.....Want a good one and don't know which to go after. I like the AFE but it seems rather expensive. Any input would be nice. Thanks in advance...

I got the AEM brute force and I am happy with it. I did change to an amsoil filter once time came. I think for hte most part they will all do the same thing so iwould just shop around for the best price.

i went with the Summit Racing brand intake for my truck. it was a K&N FIPK in a white box. had all the K&N instructions, filter, stickers and everything. and it, the tube, boots, brackets, heatshield, clamps, everything was under $200 when i got it 8 months ago. they are now $209 for my truck and yours(SUM-57-1532). this thing is WAY better than the stock one.

Gonna have to disagree with Benjamin on this one. I would put ANYTHING on but a K&N...Had one on my truck when I got it, and it hit the trash can after a few weeks. They let in too much dirt and dont have enough layers of filter media for my taste.
It really depends on your HP goals, but I like the AEM workhorse (with the dry filter), the AFE stuff is good too (Proguard 7 filter or their new dry filter), S&B look pretty good as well, or you could go with the tried and true BHAF (although it may not be the best option). |
I am running an AMSoil 4510 Nano filter, and it filters well, but after off roadin my truck just a few times, I went to clean it and it was dang near caked. I may go with a BHAF like everyone swears by and run the AMSoil when im just city/highway driving. The AMSoil one jsut got too dirty too fast IMO.

I'm running the new AFE Pro Dry 'S'. Always had good luck that why I went back. I made my own torque tube.

Yeah, just relaying my personal experience with it. Maybe it was overoiled - I dunno. I didnt oil it so thats hard to tell.

I too used to have a K&N fipk on my 06 but everytime I would take the filter off to clean there would be a grayish color film inside the torque tube. I switched to the amsoil nano and now the tube is always clean. I think K&N's are fine for gassers but not for turbo diesels due to how much airflow is required.
