Smarty tuning help and EGT's and Rail Pressure Code

I just had edge insight And industrial injection 90 hp injectors installed along with smarty set on #6. I am experiencing very high egt's.... Cruising at 80 egt's are 750 and up minor grades 1200 are no problem. My other mods are ats aurora 3000 turbo, afe intercooler, afe airbox, afe air flow, ats manifold and napd race trans. Is there another tuning set up I should run? Or are these egt's #'s normal...?

Then today while running on #5 I experienced the Fuel Rail pressure high code...How does the stock pump over pressure larger injectors?

Thanks in advance

The 90 HP injectors are a lot of fuel, they tend to run a little hotter. So far othign looks out of a decent range on temps, 750 cruise is in the range and 1200 is not bad depending on what you were doing.

What are you running for boost numbers when the EGT's start to go up and where does boost max at?

What timing on Smarty are you running?

Do you have your pyro pre or post turbo? I run egts almost identical to that, for over 2 yrs, and have no problems, but the common rails may be a little different, but I think you should be fine

smarty 6 has no timing. Did you put them in manualy? If not try smarty #7 but im not clear how your stack works with this. perhaps 6 becuase your edge gives timer? i dunno

The boost is around 32-35 psi....I am running the edge insight which is just guages, and have run the smarty on #6 (no timing) and #5(lower power but timing added)...

Funny thing is that the on the #5 setting I had hesitation through the power and then a code...fuel rail pressure too high.

Any ideas?

not running a stack, just the insight from edge which is gauges. by putting in manually, what do you mean..Revo? if so, no I just used the #6 setting

Thanks!

Running pre turbo

Do you have a pressure box? "MP-8" or?? I've played with the smarty quite a bit and it depends on your setup! IMO your turbo is to small a 4000 would have been a good choice or twins!! The 90's dump alot of fuel even when your cruising. If you have the POD set your on demand at like 40 and try that. Definitely run advanced timing like #5 or 7. The code you got is wierd Keep us posted on that! I hope you have a boost fooler! If not get the quadzilla on e-bay for 65. The EGT's are normal 80mph is pushing alot of air! Drop down to 70 and you will see a difference! MPG are pretty shot with those injectors though! But the fun meter is pegged!!

No boost fooler but I have one from my other truck. I will install it when I get back to California from Colorado.

No pressure box, just the smarty. I will try #7 or the POD at 40.

I just had the injectors installed yesterday, could that code have to do with the new injectors?

I agree I need a larger turbo...

Can you read your rail pressure? If so put it on your display it should be no higher than 22000 to 24000max Any more and you will crack your injectors! If the code didn't come back maybe the pressure relief valve got stuck ? Hopefully someone with this info will add to the thread! If you don't like the 40 on the POD just keep going up till you find a sweet spot. The boost fooler will help with the EGT's.

What part of CA? I'm in San Diego!

You need a boost fooler me thinks. You should see 40+ psi on SW #6, I do. That will help the EGT's a lot when you push it.

SW #5 probably had too much timing if it was hesitating like that. Did you adjust your rail pressure setting at all?

I am running SW#6, RP 3, Timing 3, TQ Mngmnt 3 and seldom see EGT's over 800-900 unless I push it. RP at cruise is 16-1700 k bt it ramps faster. The bigger injectors will probably drive temps a little higher.

You can try crimping the WG acutator hose closed with a small vice grips to test the boost theory and see what it will do on the way home. That will tell you if a BF is needed and what effect it will have.

I can read the rail pressure on the edge unit, so I will watch tomorrow. I am in Santa Cruz CA..

Why would the pressure be greater on larger injectors than with stock ones? Seems like rail pressure should be less

I will definately get the boost fooler installed...

So you think running 6 with rail pressure three will releive the pressure? I am lost with all this stuff, sorry to sound retarded.

I will look up the smarty tuning stuff now to see what it means. Thanks a million for the advice
