rebuild time

i have an 04 dodge with a cummins that bit the big one, will a short block from a 99 work, i can get a good one cheap, i would like to put my head and all the goodies from my old engine on it, if not i can get an 06 short block for a little more.

Mine got rebuilt with a 98 block I believe. They are all the same, it is just the head and internals that are different. Dont forget, it is not a bad idea to have all 6 sleeved though.

Blocks are different, considerable. I don't recommend sleeving unless 0.040" isn't enough to clean up the mess. What model 04? Early or late, because the pistons and injector spray pattern will be different.

You CAN put CR pistons in a 24V block, but the CR block is stiffer and has a few differences in it. I would stick with either rebuilding your block or getting another CR block.

What when wrong with yours?
