New...looking for best Cummins to build

ok I am looking to build a DD with 1000hp. the 1000hp will be with nitrous. I want it to be streetable but still be a monster.

I originally wanted to build up a 12V but one of the guys on here told me to get a 5.9CR.

So I decided to ask around and see which would be best.

12V, 24V, or 24V CR. it will be a twin turbo used for a daily driver, some pulling and some racing.

Thanks for yalls .02 in advance

I vote for the CR. 1000 hp will be expensive to achieve in any motor but, I think it will be less expensive in a CR motor. I would be interested in how streetable a 1000 hp monster will be. Let us know.

It's only money If you have enough for those numbers then an 06 should work or maybe a 6.7 a little R&D never hurt! Keep us posted!!

yea I know it will be expensive and now I got it down to like 7-800hp because I realized 1000 is just an outrageous number to achieve and be streetable. so with the CR I can turn up and down the tunes for what I want and when I want it.

the 6.7 is a no go. I havent heard anything good about it and I just dont like it. Maybe if it picks up some good hype or just some good programming thats really reliable.

oh and someone mentioned an 06 why would that be the best 5.9CR to build?

and like I said I am still in school for another 2.5 years. so it will be a really long time til I build this beast.

Around 1250-1300 the steel crank seems to brake. Thats what ive seen in my area :jump:

From what I've read and seen, I'd probably say CR since your already dumping a buttload into it.

yea I have decided on the CR now Im just looking for a nice list of goodies to start pricing and looking for.

Depends on the target I guess. If you want 700 - you can do a 12V daily driver in that range but you have to be careful. 800+ in any block will require some thought but you CAN do it with enough money - straight fuel and 850 is as high as I've seen. When you add water meth at that range it seems to cool it down but not really increase the HP (again, based on what I have seen).

The 03-04 engines are holding the big power better than the later models. A good starting place would be an early 04 HO.
