EGT Probe Location 07 5.9
 

:humm:Anybody got photos of best location for probe on my 07 5.9, I`ve seen about 2 or 3 different locations posted on top of manifold @ where #5 come together , on the side where it drops down to the turbo:humm: Instructions with EdgeInsight are very non-specific @ best. They also tell you not to use grease on the drillbit & I think it`s to keep from a ball of grease w/shavings from falling into turbo. Anybody that has done a lot of these installs please chime in. i just did mind the other night, i used the same spot as diesel manor said, by #4 cylinder

:howdy:Thanks , redcummins04 for the info ,but that looks like it`s almost directly below #5.Did you remove fenderliner to do the work or do it from the topside.Grease bit&tap with truck off, or no grease & truck idling. That looks like the preferred location by most people that I have seen pics of on 3rd gen trucks.Thanks for the post & picture & sorry for my slow response.:c:

I usually use small drill bits and work my way up in size that way my shavings are smaller. I keep the truck off but I use grease on my drill bits and my tap.

before the turbo is great but big rigs use pyros in the down pipe or elbow mine is in the elbow u can take it off or just drill it on the truck since its after the turbo no need to worry about the metal shavings my bullydog kit said to install the pyro 2 to 4 inchs after the turbo. makes it easy :c:

no i didnt remove the fenderliner, i was able to get my drill in there, i did use a punch to make a small mark then used a small drill bit and worked my way up while using mystery marvel oil and ran a vac at the same time

:howdy:Thanks for the input everybody. I called Edge today & talked with one of the guys in the technical support & of course he put me on hold to talk with someone else. When he came back on the phone he told me to mount it on the top of the manifold where #6 & #5 cylinders join and to use grease on the bit & tap . Instructions with the unit tells you not to use grease & gives you a good photo removing fenderliner & exactly where to drill on the D-Max & on the Powerstroke, but it don`t mean diddly to me with my Dodge. Seems like instructions with almost everything you buy these days ain`t worth a crap & if they were they could get rid of half of the people that they have that try answer these questions when you call back.:bat:
