'05 CTD Bombs

I have been asked by a friend of mine to see what I can do to get more torque on the bottom end for his truck, it is an '05 CTD 5.9L. he is unimpressed with the bottom end torque, he pulls a small back hoe on a regular basis for his business He would like to increase MPG too but the torque is what he is most concerned with, he just does not want to build a sled puller, he wants something reliable as he uses this truck everyday for the bus...
Any advice, comments, suggestions are welcome, and if any vendors have a package deal that they think would benefit him please feel free to PM me with any information too...
Thanks,
Chris:U::pca1:

Probably the cheapest and easiest thing to do would be to add a pressure box like the Edge EZ. Level one would be my recommendation. It will provide a little more fuel on the bottom to spool the turbo a little faster which is what he's feeling. Don't go to too much pressure or his injectors can see premature failure. Also, this small addition will not be harmful to his tranny or clutch whichever he has. He also may want to address the stock lift pump if he hasn't already. That alone made my truck a new animal.

great thanks, would you also recommend an exhaust? to reduce back pressure? I was thinking that this may help him spool quicker too...

It can, but he has a 4" already from turbo all the way back. A true mandrel bent 4" or 5" would be better yet and run a little cooler too. A 5" turbo back was one of my first mods because of my upgrade plan. I never regretted it.

A Smarty Jr would work for him also. He can also
drill a lot of small holes in the bottom of his stock
intake box and get more air,it's free. After drilling
holes,add a pc of window screen in the bottom.

Would an 05 have the torque management software??? Wasn't that intro'd in 05??

IDK, I know hardly anything about the Dodge trucks...:w2:
But I am sure someone on here knows...:pca1:
