Looking at getting wife a new to us truck

Wanting to get the mrs. a new to us used truck. I narrowed down the years that I am looking at. I know i will prob get a 2006 or 2007. My question is how much can the stock auto tranny take? I would prefer getting her a 6 spd (which she ain't apposed to). Its just trying to find a 6 spd without real high miles for a decent price. I was looking at getting a smarty for it when we get one. And yes I know all about guages and lift pumps! Just wanting some insight about what I will be getting into if I go ahead and get an auto. Would she be safe to keep the smarty on level 3 for just driving around town? How much damage could be done to the tranny while driving on the 3rd setting? I have an 02 6 spd got it cause I prefer sticks and a clutch is cheaper than a tranny. Should I just get a manual or will I be alright with the auto. Oh it will be doing some light towing from time to time.(26 ft enclosed trailer) And some heavy towing(14,000 lbs 36 ft travel trailer) Any help would be helpful. Don't know much bout the common rails

the clutches in these trucks are junk in the stock form running much power. :hellox:

The 48re is not known for being bulletproof. If you're going to be towing that weight regularly i would recommend upgrading the auto. Mine pulled 12k 150 miles or so no problem but i wouldn't do it all the time. that poor little tranny cant take it

I have a 2006 4x4 6speed with stock clutch and I pulled my 30ft 5th wheel and 20ft stock trailer with Smarty Revo on SW4, torque on stock, rail pressure stock, and I believe timing 3, POD 90.This did pretty good for me. Now I run EFI with same stock clutch on a towing tune and the smoke control is so much better, throttle control isn't touchy but a whole lot better than stock, egt's in check. I do have plans to upgrade my clutch but for now it is holding just fine.
I think the auto would do fine.I think Smarty doesn't recommend going above SW3 with stock auto.

well it kinda suks that i am so far away because i am wanting to sell my 2006 2500 with built tranny has alot of miles but tranny only has maybe 10k since the build your best bet might be looking for a truck with a built auto already in it
