South Bend clutches

It seems my clutch is going in my 02 3500 dually, 5.9 Cummins....270k miles on the original so I can't complain. I priced the job at Dodge but won't pay that much...I found a South Bend kit , single disc organic for a decent price. I don't think I need anything greater than this for my towing purposes. But now I was made aware of the Valair company...they both look like damn good cluthes. Anyway...all advice appreciated. Doc

south bend and valair both have very good clutches but sense your towing you should consider on getting a dual disk clutch.. the clutch is 1100 at south bend which will hold up better for towing than a single

This is coming from a guy that makes very little money... I went ahead and spent the extra money like 400 or 500 bucks i think on a dual disc... It is absolutely the way to go... i will never own another single disc...You might get along fine but hey... Is it worth having to do it all again??? buy the dual disc hands down!!!!!!!!!!!!

i wouldnt go with southbend on a dual disc, i tore mine up and i am not putting out near the power as other guys with dual discs, i cracked the plate between the clutches an it ate all the meat off, if your deciding on a brand id go valair.:tu:

Im running a custom built sdd3250-5k southbend clutch with the silencer removed and a billet center plate installed, which i ordered directly from them. I have a 7800lb truck, 15" of lift, 41" tires, and pulling 15,000lb trailers weekly. If not, I am out in the bush pulling on anything in sight and getting people out of holes. I HIGHLY recommend southbend. You need to call them and get the proper clutch for your application. The silencer plate that is installed for the clutch noise is only rated to 600 degrees, the plastic they use on the disk will melt and you will have disc failure. The clutch only squeeks quietly when your pedal is on the floor, so just shift without the clutch if it bothers you. Its solid, i think ill snap drive line before the clutch slips.

This helps me out alot also. I'm considering a new clutch myself, as I cannot solidly boil my duals.:td: I won't be happy until I can(: I kno everybody has a southbend. I'm just now sure on price, which one to get, or what site to get it at. If some one could shoot me a private mes. with some reccomendations, that would be greatly appreciated
