Edge Comp Smoke?

Hey guys, how much is the edge comp supposed to smoke on 5x5. With MAP plugged in i dont get any smoke until the turbo starts to light, then i get a cloud and a haze from that point on. I also see next to no smoke when i rev it. Is this typical for a Comp box or is something wrong with the box or my truck.

You should get pretty good smoke on 5x5. check your connections Something must not be quite right. Even without injectors it should smoke pretty good!

well, if im rollin down the road, and i get out ofit then lay in it again i get smoke, but today i idlesd it down to about 1000 RPM in 4th or 5th gear and pegged the foot feed to the floor and i didnt get ANY smoke at first and it barely started rollin out for a bit until the turbo almost lit then it belched out and hazed up when turbo lit

However, im seeing 35 lbs of boost so connections gotta be ok.....

i was just now thinkin, when i installed my BD plate, i took off and unhooked my throttle control unit and now i have a P0122 code, you think my apps is out of synch and not showin foot to the floor which is why im not getting any smoke?

Well you wont get allot of smoke with a comp. You will get a cloud and a little haze until the charger catches. Unplug your map and you will get a nice big cloud taking off under hard throttle.

i know this but i was told having the MAP unplugged can be a very bad thing.......in the long run

Sounds like its time for some Injectors :poak:

I have the same thing happening. None if very little with the comp on 5x5.

There definitely is a kick in the pants as far as performance goes, but very rarely do I get smoke out of my truck.

Good or bad?

i mean, technically it should POUR smoke out when i lug it, last night i was told by a guy to idle it in 3rd gear, ride the brake and nail the gas until it boosts and he said i SHOULD get a lot of smoke......i got nothin till i pinned the throttle after i let the brake off

i was also told its bad to drive around with MAP unplugged

Does anyone know if an out of adjustment APPS sensor will hinder the smoke or anything?

Mine will pour the coal out with the MAP unplugged, and will roll a good cloud with the MAP plugged in till the charger spools. However, I have 100 hp sticks, too.

If for whatever reason you want it to smoke like a freight train you will need to consider a smarty box and a set of big sticks - I have 150HP sticks and with the comp on 2x1 there isn't much smoke but with it set to 4x3 or 4x4 it goes real black. Add the smarty to that (running the correct setting say #6) and the comp on 5x5 and you are asking for black. Personally, it's a bit over rated and is a real pain in the ass if you are trying to be nice to those around you.

Anyway, play as you want - hopefully you don't have EPA types close to home.
