Silencer ring in the stock turbo?
I'm new to these forums and have heard about removing the silencer ring what will it gain or loose and how would I go about doing it?
|
you most likely wont gain any hp or more boost but it will make your turbo a lot louder in the cab. to do this, you have to remove a snap ring inside your turbo housing. a really small flat tip works good, and wonce the snap ring is off, the silencer ring slides right out.
i like it out because you can really listen to your turbo.:tu: |
He is correct its so u can hear your turbo more and you can also put a cone air filter on to hear it even more
|
Ok is it on the intake side of the turbo?
|
Yes its on the intake side, just undo the boot and you will see the ring and snap rings holding it in :) mine was out before I bought my truck
|
Thanks guys turns out mine was already taken out too

Absolutely no power gain whatsoever, just noise difference. I did as stated before, put on a spectra cone filter, only problem is with that, living in the country, I have to buy a new one every month or so. But it allows a pretty quick turbo spool.

yep if you get a bigger filter (BHAF or aftermarket) whistle will be very noticable. No noticable power increase on a stocker.
