Thinking about getting a turbo timer.

I'm the type of guy that wants to shut down the truck as soon as I pull it in the corral. I have the isspro pyro guage. Since I have all the guages and such I'm not interested in purchasing another programmer. So I'm looking for what will work with my pyro that I already have? Who has them , and there opinions?

what temp are you shutting it down at?

honestly I couldn't tell ya. I don't drive the truck everyday. And when I do I don't remember what the temp is. Another question if I should be worried about the temp of the turbo. How would that effect the timer if the probe is before the turbo housing? Some say to shut it down at 300, but would the exhaust gas even at idle be hotter than that? I relatively new to the diesel scene, so still trying to understand the workings.

it would be close. the main reason for a turbo timer is so the oil doesnt solidify in the journal bearings and housing, due to exccesive cooling, quickly, causing poor or no oil flow for the next start up. BUT you would have to be shutting your truck down right after a dyno run or 1/4 mile to really run the risk of this. if you have limited funds like most of us do, i would recommend other modds. unless you feel you might shut the engine off at 1400*

I mostly just tend to use the truck for running errnads on the weekends. Occasionally pulling a car trailer. The way I look at mods, if it will prevent future expensive repairs. I'll purchase the upgrades.

I have one from BP Diesel Performance. Their Cool Down Timer (CDT2) is not to expensive. Instructions are some what hard to figure out. Let me know if you have any questions.

Do you have a link to where I can find what you have? You can say that again about instructions being hard to follow on some of these parts. I usually end up searching youtube or asking questions here. getting other opinions on installation.

Yep, I'm not sure exactly what I paid but call Diesel Dawgs Performance at 828-631-1546 and ask him for a CDT2 from BP Diesel Performance. Or Diesel Dawgs Performance - Diesel Dawgs Performance I got mine the next day. I think he will pay the shipping also. Yeah, I can post pics and answer any questions if needed.

Thanks, It going to be first of the year before I do anything. So I'll probably hit him up for this.
