Head studs
 

Just wondered if I can go past 50psi if I just put studs in, If so how high. Or do i have to firering as well?

As long as its done correctly studs will hold 50psi.

studs are fine but if you decide to pull head o-ring don't fire ring it.

Fire rings don't last as long as a daily drive, so the story goes. O-ringed heads hold up better to daily drivers.

My goal is about 60psi boost.Hoped it would be sufficient with studs for that.
Can`t seem to find any shops that sell o-ring sets, just ones that sell fire ring sets.
Live in Norway so I need to get the machining done here.

o ring not a kit it's done in house.

I run 60+ psi on both of my trucks with just head studs torqued to 150. I have been problem free for years.

i had always heard firerings were a step up from o-rings:humm: research time!!

thats what they say but I have seen a few trucks that have blown the fire rings. went to o-rings next with 2 seasons down and no issues.

Word is fire ringing is to cut a groove in head and block in some cases and installing wire to replace the compression ring on the head gasket (which requires said fire ring gasket because compression rings are removed from it) and oringing is cutting a groove in the head and sometimes block and using a traditional head gasket. The idea of oringing is to get the compression ring of the gasket to fit in the grooves and provide a better seal whereas fire ring You replace it with separate parts to for a compression ring.

Due to slang/lingo you'll hear them interchanged for one or the other when said but that is typically what I've seen to be the standard for each term when used correctly. Kinda like twins and compounds. Twins is often used when compounds would be the proper term if your that nit picky.
