99' starting issues

So my mostly stock 99' 24 valve is acting up and I haven't found anyone that can tell me what's going on. If the engine is cold then it fires right up just like it always has for the last 271000 miles but if the engine is hot then it will crank and crank for sometimes a minute before it starts up.
The starter is new so it's turning over plenty fast and once started I have NO drivability issues. Fuel mileage is consistent. I have a direct replacement FASS lift pump that I put on this spring.... but I'm really scratching my head....
Thanks for any impute,
Jesse

did the problems start when you put the fass DDRP on?

whats your fuel pressure? codes? many people have had issues where hard starts are caused by cracked diaphram in the injection pump

I don't have a fuel pressure gauge it was throwing injection pump codes before I put the FASS in but I think I fixed that with a loose wire that I found. But others have thought maybe a cracked diaphram I just don't want to replace a $1200 part on a maybe! The problem started before I put the FASS pump in and got better for a short while but then has gotten much worse as time has gone on.

my 98.5 is doing the exact same thing...cold it cranks quick, after warming up it takes for ever to crank, 0 drivability, power and mileage issues what so ever... except mine only started doing it about 5 months after putting an air dog 150 on...

only thing i was wondering about on the fass was we have seen a few of the ddrps and even the "airtex" replacment pumps from the parts stores is that they are sending the wrong amp draw to the ecm throwing it into a hard start, but since this was going on before the pump thats not it.....as far as heat soak thats sounding more like the board on the pump, call blue chip and talk to them about it
