ive heard really good things about the smarty and the edge comp witch would be my best bet to get.

diesel pap 08-10-2011 04:19 PM

both are good.:tu:

BACONBITSFORU 08-10-2011 04:22 PM

What do you want to do with the truck...

justin mccabe 08-10-2011 04:54 PM

well i tow horses and i like to stop light race every now and then. but i usually only tow if im not with my dad we usaully go the same place with the horses

Tweaker727 08-10-2011 07:06 PM

Another vote for quadzilla here.

I like it, and it's yet to let me down, all the custom tuning options with the Iquad. Gauges and safety options to boot. Like EGT limiting, and boost.

Depends on your style though, i like to remove all the stuff from my dash when i'm parked somewhere, so VIA my iPhone i control my programmer !

justin mccabe 08-10-2011 07:12 PM

ive heard some not so good things about the quadzilla how it screws up your vp pump pretty much kills it

RUSS83 08-10-2011 07:27 PM

EDGE COMP. WITH HOT UNLOCKED IS THE WAS TO GO.
TONY A MIGHTY DIESEL HELPED ME OUT ORDERED MY BOX ON MON. AND THE NEXT DAY HAD IT JUST NEED TO GET IT PUT ON :tu::c:

justin mccabe 08-10-2011 07:47 PM

how much did that run you i want the most bang for the buck and ive heard nothing but good about the smarty my dad actually had a smarty on his old truck which was a 2007 mega cab dually.

BACONBITSFORU 08-10-2011 08:12 PM

what chip should i go with

Anything that taps the vp control wire will jack the vp up faster

Tweaker727 08-10-2011 08:18 PM

I bought my Iquad for 500 $ shipped to my door,

smartys on these older VP44' trucks don't net all that much power.

It all depends on supporting mods, and what you want the end result to be, towing-power-and all round performance,

skyler1101 08-11-2011 01:35 AM

my votes with quadzilla tons of power i even won the truck pull with it last friday custom tuning its the only way to go

countryboy976 08-11-2011 02:07 AM

edge will give you 120hp 350tq additional. i use the edge juice w/att and never had any problems and i tow all most all the time i haul everything from industrial pipe to a rv to a utility trailer and mines does great

justin mccabe 08-11-2011 03:17 PM

but the edge juice with attitude is like 700 to 800 bucks. and i already have gauges so i dont need the pod thing i really want the best bang for my buck that wont mess anything up

countryboy976 08-12-2011 04:14 AM

I paid $600 for mine and that included the overnight shipping brand new unit

check around on the internet you find them cheaper or consider a used unit

turbostang7 08-12-2011 07:18 AM

i had the quadzilla, loved it! the custom tuneing was awesome! it does have some bugs but if you don't mind a little tinkering you will be fine with it.
and as said before anything that taps the pump ie edge comp, jwa, quad. will mess up the vp quicker than if it didn't have anything on it.

the edge juice w att dont tap the injection wiring. It only hooks to the engine computer through a unused connecter. it only reprograms the computer and alters some data from sensors

Yes the Edge Juice with Attitude does tap the pump wire. It connects to the MAP Sensor, Data Link Connection and the VP44.

i think im going to go with the smarty for now and save up and get the edge comp and then stack the two. thanks for everyones opinion

Mine don't and the only wire i have that is not hooked up is trans temp and thats cause mine is manual and it's not as important as on a automatic and the only one i know that taps the pump wires is the comp the only wire i have going from my pump is the fuel pressure gauge i know i installed my on own it does not tap the pump wires at all

well you got a bad harness then, that chip cant deliver 120hp without tapping the pump. check the instructions for the juice with attitude.....shows how to install the pump tap from the chip. all you get by running it without the pump tapped is timing and gauges. not to be mean out it but think about it, if the comp and juice are rated for the same power and the comp HAS to tap the pump wire to make the advertised power then how could the juice do it without tapping it.

turbostang7 08-13-2011 05:57 PM

yep countryboy976 it definetly taps the pump, i have helped install 3 of them and all 3 have the pump tap. did you buy it new? Or used? maybe if it was used the pump tap wire was cut off at one time or another :humm:

countryboy976 08-13-2011 08:19 PM

hmmm well mine don't have that wire and no wires are cut i just went through the harness i bought it new sorry guys my mistake then

its all good we are here to learn from each other anyways lol. i wonder why yours doesn't have it? you would notice a drastic difference in power if you get the pump tapped haha

countryboy976 08-14-2011 12:50 AM

I dont know either but you better bet i'll be on the phone with edge first thing monday morning

RollinCoal99 08-15-2011 08:55 PM

Quad adren 180hp level 10 from factory plus custom tunes available once a month, my buddy has his at 230hp custom tune, thers a de fueling program in it so it wont hurt your vp. only $600 with pulse V2 monitor at Cummins Performance Parts CPP Adrenaline 4k RPM box with V2 Pulse controller

the smarty on the vp truck doesn't add near the power they do on the cr trucks. Since you already have gauges go with an edge comp you will be very happy you did. you can find an used comp or comp hot for 300-350.

as for people saying a pump tap box kills a vp faster is a load. If you have proper fuel pressure they live. I know more people with dead pumps on stock trucks then dead pumps with wire tapped

Diesel Dawgs Performance 08-16-2011 11:26 AM

I would do either the Edge Comp or the Edge Juice with CS/CTS.
