I'm running a 1/2 in draw straw, and have for 3 yrs now, not a single issue, no 1/4 tank things, nothing. Heres what i did, i took 2 quarters, after I marked and drilled my hole, I put the quarters at the bottom of the tank, 1 on top of the other. i then cut a small amount off the drawstraw a little at a time until i had the draw straw installed and sitting on the quarters, i then removed the quarters and reinstalled the draw straw. Working fine, even on a 1/4 tank in the hills that i pull

:tu: Hmmm alright, I'm swayed. I'll start saving up cause I know they're not cheap but I'm crossing my fingers and hope they're all you guys say. What about the air side of things? I was talking to a buddy of mine today, outlining all my plans and he brought up a very interesting point: Keeping the turbo in the stock location, it appears the alternator interferes with an intake tube going from behind the headlight to the turbo. We were brainstorming ideas an came up that by removing the second stock battery to the stock airbox location we can make a sort of "forced" air intake to provide cooler air, but the alternator gets in the way. Any ideas? I told him we could simply add a small bend in the tube we use for the intake and see how it works. But he's intent on relocating the alt. and making a jumbled, to me, mess. :argh:

It sounds like your interested in building your truck for towing instead of outright performance. This is how I also set my truck up. I went with a Southbend Con-OFE clutch. Definitely replace the lift pump. I went with a mechanical pump because I hate electrical stuff but Airdog and FASS have plenty of followers too. Stock turbo is fine for towing with those injectors. I wouldn't worry about messing with the intake until you get your gauges setup and see what kind of EGTs you actually have. Throw an Edge or similar box on there and call it done. It will tow all day long and still get decent fuel mileage.

Yeah I prolly shouldve mentioned that first, pickup is used mostly dd and farm equip hauler, not a toy. With the mechanical pump, it's basically like the steering pump isn't it, but for fuel of course. Would it mount like and extra cp3 on the new common rails?
