need info on hot rod vp44 from industrial injection

Do you or know of anyone that runs this pump? Do you like it or don't like it? Pro's, cons's ideas suggestions? Thanks

What HP are you looking to get?

empty wallet 07-05-2011 08:18 PM

I have one... My only issues are when I did the hr pump my vp codes never cleared, are only picked up by a scanner but they are there... and the wierd idle the hr pump has is, interesting. Customer service at IIS is A+, if you call them you talk to a real cummins mechanic, not some guy at a desk.

What do you have done to your truck so far?

caylebk 07-05-2011 11:25 PM

a buddy of mine has one and doesnt like the hard starts in the cold and the wierd idle it has. when i drove it if i let off a little it had a really odd stutter till you gave it more gas or fully let off. other than that it screams

a lot of ppl i have seen on here seem to think the Standard Output pump is the better option... maybe u have that and are looking for more... thats just kinda the concensus i have found..

Dirt_Diver 07-09-2011 10:02 AM

Thanks guys for the info!! Right he truck has a edge juice with attitude, stage 2 injectors, air box, fass and im thinkin that's it.and I really don't have a power range with this truck other then get up and go. But I am lookin for fuel milage tho.

Whenever the stock pump went out, a mechanic ordered a pump (surpose to be a hott rod pump) the truck hasn't been the same since. And im holding this will fix the problem

What do you mean "the truck hasn't been the same since"

I wouldn't go buying a new vp if you don't know what's going on with it... whats your fuel pressure from idle to wot? codes? symptoms?

Dirt_Diver 07-09-2011 02:08 PM

One of the biggest diff. Is fuel milage and power. And such as fuel pressure, it jumps from 14 to 15psi all around.

Diesel Dawgs Performance 07-09-2011 02:27 PM

Are you using a Mechanical or Electrical Fuel Pressure Gauge?

jkidd 07-09-2011 07:36 PM

Go with a standard Output VP44 and upgrade your injectors to be bigger if you want more power. SO vp44 will support 650HP and is generally more reliable.

Its off of the edge. Could it be the fass maybe?

01quadcab 07-11-2011 09:58 AM

the hrvp44 will make more power with no box but the so and hrvp's make same power with a pump tap box save your money as my so pump made 683 and drove it all over and could get nice fuel mileage too at 65 24.5 mpg

I agree save your $$

Dirt_Diver 07-15-2011 09:20 PM

How will they do with a edge juice?

i have the hrvp44 and the weird idle has been driving me nuts. ive been under the impression that something was wrong but its normal i guess. i noticed a power difference but not worth the money.

Thanks guys for the info! Thinkin im just gonna wait and see whart else comes up!:rocking:

Cumminsnewb 07-10-2012 02:55 AM

Jeesh /wipes sweat. I just installed a new fuel
System with the hrvp and it had the idle/studded I thought I was getting air dropped my tank did all sorts of trouble shooting thought maybe lines. Thanx for the info on this page I can stop. It is a Wierd feeling. But hey peddle down its balls. Love the power it gave me, but I'm sure it's less reliable then others because of that spudder/idle issue.

Dodgemanstan 07-10-2012 08:13 PM

Yup go with an SO pump. Put the extra money to a chip...

Cumminsbeast 07-11-2012 11:46 PM

i will agree it has a weird idle and if you tap the skinny pedal and let off quick it will chug...kinda sounds like a growl. advertised as +100hp and likes to run 12X0.16 injectors instead of 12x0.12...came on my truck, i like it so what the hell...
