hx35 and s400 compound setup

I've seen a couple people running them and decided I'm interested, but a few questions....

How would I setup the oil feed for the second turbo, I saw how to do the oil return but not the supply?

Should I be okay on fuel to not have bad lag or better than the current lag?

And what applications would it be easiiest to find a s400? I know some detroit series 60s have them but what do I need to look for? I'm a big rig/trailer, basically anything diesel commercial mechanic so I have resources to try and hunt down a turbo hopefully cheap just don't know exactly which model or anything that I'm trying to look for.

There is a second port on the top of the oil filter housing, beside the supply line for the factory HX35. It is 1/8 NPT, if I remember correctly. That's what I am using, it is filtered oil in that port as well.

Better then current for sure!

Mine came off a Deere payloader with a 12.5L engine in it. Large 4wd Deere tractors, Large Payloaders, and 450CLC excavators have them on them.

You may have come across this before, but here is a link to my set up:

Sorry for taking so long to get back I've been out of town.

But anyways is it going to be found on any deere with that engine or is it year specific? And as far as the oil supply did you have to fab that up or did you get the factory one from deere and it fit?

What size tubing did you run for the air side and as far as the hot pipe, did you have to fab a flange for the s400? And did you just modify the down spout off the back of the 35 to connect to the 400?

You can buy oil supply lines from vendors here on DB. Also you can get all the hot/cold piping from vendors on DB.:tu:

As far as I know, it will be on all 12.5L's. 824, 844 payloaders. 7000 series self propelled forage harvesters. 9000 4wd ag tractors. I went to a Cummins store and bought the steel line from them for the S400, and used the second port on the filter head to get another oil source. You can't use the same one that is on there for this, as the second port is NPT. Whereas the one currently used is ORB.

All 3", then a 3" to 4" adapter at HX35. I did it all 3" for velocity, and volume reasons. Volume is lag, so all 4" would have a bit more lag then all 3". Plus the air is moving faster into the HX due to the 3". As for the hot pipe, check this thread out: https://www.dieselbombers.com/5-9l-2...-hot-pipe.html

the neighbor has a 03 with hx35/s400 twins, schieds cam, fireriged head, 85 over injectors, big :edit: clutch, and a lil over cp3 , he took it to schieds and they did it all up for um. Barley any lag compared to stock gets 12mpg pulling camper and smokes like a freight train, a great set of twins :rocking:
