Need Help with choice of injectors!!!!!

My truck is basically stock besides exhaust and fuel pump. I just dont know how high i should go on injectors, or is it a better idea to get a programmer before injectors? New to the diesel world.....Thank you for your help......

What is your overall horsepower goal? And plans for the truck?

brians_cummins 06-08-2011 12:50 PM

Well all depends on funding... Wont be pulling too often, so I will say more for daily driving but hit the drag strip on weekends. I am open to any suggestions...

I would say a set of ddp 110's a comp box and a 62 for turbo just under 500hp and will tow anything and put you low 13's high 12's. also stud and o-ring head.

Have had great luck with dragonflow injectors from silver bullet.

Coming from my last strip experience you might want to drop some dough in the tranny department....

A set of our Big Dawg 100's would work nice.

So the 100 hp do you think it will be ok to go with the 150 hp?

KillStroker 06-09-2011 07:39 AM

Your gonna want to get a Bigger turbo with the 150's. Otherwise your fuel wont get enough air to atomize which will result in increased EGT's. If a trail of black soot is what your wanting that'd be the ticket i just wouldnt suggest it.

Nozzles have to be placed into the injector if you buy just the nozzle. It's easier to buy a full set of injectors and just drop them in rather than putting the nozzle into your old injector housing. Plus a set of injectors comes flow matched, and if you just buy nozzles they have to be pop tested and soforth after theyre placed into the housing so that the truck runs smoothly.

id say a set 0f 100s with the stock turbo. 150s with the stock turbo will be a lil warm. :tu:

Because I have the time and resources, I always go with nozzles. The local diesel shop gives me a great deal, and does amazing work. $20 per injector to swap, pop test, and flow check.

Question whats with the pop test. i put 125 ddp sticks in mine without pop testing and the truck has ran fine. Just wandering.

dolla_hite 06-14-2011 06:40 PM

if you buy the whole injector then theyve already been tested. if you only buy the nozzles and put them on the injectors you already have then thats when you have to get them pop tested

RAW 06-14-2011 07:44 PM

Pop testing is setting the spring pressure on the needle, therefor setting the pressure at which the fuel will squirt out at.

01quadcab 06-14-2011 08:05 PM

also the more even all 6 injectors pop at the better performance and better fuel burn.

X2 on what 01quadcab said very true:tu:

Im running 50hp DDPs with no smoke and my mpgs increased 1.5-2 when i put them in.

Brandon J 06-15-2011 11:47 PM

Thanks for yhe info on the pop testing guys. I could not be happyer with the 125 sticks. Plenty of power and mpg went up. Now i need my edge comp box .:rocking:
