running out of fuel on top end

Hey guys I am looking for some help and opinions. I have a 2001 ram 2500 qclb with a built garmon auto trans. It also has the quad adrenaline with v2 pulse. The truck has been not having any power in the top end for a while now and acts like it wants to go but doesn't. Recently I just pulled the injectors and replaced them with ddp 150s. When I pulled the old ones they were very garbaged up so I figured that was the cause of my issues. At the same time I put in arp studs and an htt 62/71/14 turbo. I took the truck out to drive it and with the adrenaline cranked could only make 40 psi boost and 1200 egts. I would think the truck would run a lot hotter than that and that the turbo should run higher boost. While driving I matted the pedal hard and the truck picked up then all of a sudden died. It had airlocked the injector lines so I had to bleed them out to get it going again. I am leaning towards the issue being the almost 3 year old stock vp from industrial injection. What do you guys think?

What is your fuel pressure like during these situations?

justviper1 04-24-2011 08:16 PM

Lp is staying at 13 to 15 psi

My truck did something similar, the adrenaline just didnt pull like it used to. I sent the box in and they fixed it works great now.

Take the box off and see how it does.

Plenty lots there, so that shouldn't be the issue. Measured at the Banjo Fitting I assume? I seem to be fighting a similar problem. Even with the Smarty at 8, EJWA at 5, 65's, and compounds, I don't feel it pulls hard enough. I've adjusted and reset my APPS, cleaned MAT and AIT sensors, and am also wondering if the pump just doesn't have the ability to move enough fuel at higher RPM's.

Just like your sayin rawilliams it just doesnt pull like it should. Im measuring the fuel pressure about 6 inches before the banjo fitting but should have the same pressure at the banjo.
I was all happy to get the new turbo and injectors in but the truck just runs the same as it did before they went in so now it is like I just wasted all that money

Does your Turbo have an adjustable boost elbow have you adjusted that if you do. I know most are factory set at 40psi

The combo you went with should really lay down some power. Does it roll coal much?

Im going to shorten the wastegate on the new turbo as much as possible to keep it closed but I dont think it is the problem.

Right off the line it does give out a bit of a cloud but nothing like what I have seen other trucks do with a similar setup and when I top out at the 1200 degrees and 40 psi there is no smoke.

Check your connectors on the map sensor. To me this sounds like the ADR is having an issue. Check the connectors for corrision or loose fit. Since the factory ECM with begin to defuel at over 18-20 psi, if the ADR isn't boost fooling correctly, it could be the reason you have no top end
