Help!

Hey Guys need some help on this one.....after my injector install I took it for a ride and everything was fine, until I got back to my house with it and saw coolant leaking pretty bad.....turns out its coming from a small freeze plug in the back left hand side of the motor.....how do I fix this? :argh:

TugBoat 03-30-2011 08:51 PM

POP it out n put new one in

motoxer301 03-30-2011 08:58 PM

do you think it will happen again without having the head o-ringed and all that because of the injectors?

i found this pic online, its the same freeze plug that is leaking on my truck....

motoxer,

What size injectors did you put in? I would not think that the freeze plug started leaking b/c of injector swap. It may had already started to give and it finally gave up on life. I would swap it out with a new one and keep an eye on it. Good luck on it and I hope that once you swap it out, it is good to go and you can enjoy your new injectors.

oudive,

I put 150hp injectors in it....i never had a problem with coolant leaking in the past....i took it out for a ride as soon as they were done to see the difference they made and as soon as I got back there was a large puddle of coolant under the truck.....it sucks because its almost impossible to get at being in the very back.....in my head i keep thinking the injectors had something to do with it

Like oudive said it was prob on way out. Any that extra lil beating u gave it pushed it out. Clean it up nice n smash a new one in. It's tight but can be done.

motoxer301 03-31-2011 01:38 PM

Do you think I should have the head o-ringed and get head studs?

TugBoat 03-31-2011 09:47 PM

If you plan to do some upgrades yea, can't hurt the truck.... only ur pockets lol

motoxer301 04-01-2011 07:52 AM

I do plan on upgrading the turbo, maybe stacking an edge comp box with my smarty but that's it.....I did get a price on getting the head o-ringed and getting head studs.....quite expensive, good thing I was sitting down :scare2:

RAW 04-01-2011 07:55 AM

A set of studs alone will go a long way. That's all I'm planning to do on my truck. I also have a set of 150's sitting beside me that will go in at the same time.

motoxer301 04-01-2011 08:03 AM

Thanks RAWilliams, maybe i'll just get a set of studs then....will certainly save me some $$$

RAW 04-01-2011 08:17 AM

Correct me if I am wrong, but nowhere in this thread is there boost mentioned. How much boost are you making? I've spiked 52PSI with my set up, on stock head bolts and a stock gasket.

connermcpherson 04-01-2011 10:58 AM

Ya i made 50 psi on the stock bolts and gasket but wanted to avoid the head removal, so i did studs to be safe. The stock head gasket is actually pretty tough and i wouldnt mess with o rings unless it is absoutely needed. Get a set of studs and dont worry about o rings or fire rings until u HAVE to take the head off :c:

motoxer301 04-01-2011 10:42 PM

RAWilliams,

truck is pushing around 40-45 psi

connermcpherson,

Thanks for the advice, after what i'm hearing maybe i'll just do the studs (if anything at all) That stupid freeze plug has me paranoid though....i know the injectors couldn't have been the main reason for it going, but its got my mind spinning...lol

RAW 04-01-2011 10:44 PM

If your paranoid, maybe put a new rad cap on. Maybe your current one isn't relieving at the proper pressure, as in too high. :humm:

motoxer301 04-01-2011 10:45 PM

ok maybe i'll give that a try too....do you recommend anything special or just a regular one?

RAW 04-01-2011 11:16 PM

Just a regular one, no need for anything special.
