A little more smoke?
 

So I bought a smarty everyone told me it would smoke a lot...it dont I put a holley electric fuel pump on it today with another 15 psi of fuel pressure figured maybe it would leak a little extra into the cylinders when the injectors open, but.....No, the only smoke I have is a puff at start up and maybe just a teenie tiny puff you can barely see when you get on it...I have had the smarty on all the settings from 0 to 9 just little bity puffs....How do you get these things to smoke.....I am NOT making a smoke switch, and I am NOT putting a shirt or a bag over my air filter....Just would like to see a little more smoke out of it.....its really hard to pick up pussy in a diesel that just dont smoke lol :w2:

So much to learn young grasshopper...for instance, if you say pu$$y, it should be in the garlands, and if you say, I don't care about power I just want smoke, you should put a bag over your air filter. When the smarty changes levels 0-9 do you notice a difference in performance?

have you tapped into your pump?

What would he tap it with? The Smarty flashes the ECM

you can always burn your spare tire that creates lots of smoke. you need a edge comp and you will get smoke, but first get a set of gauges and a fass fuel pump the holley will not live. been there done that.

I dont know much about the smarty, but the way I understand its only a 65hp gain and thats not really enough to make much smoke.

I have an Edge EZ box on my truck (65hp) and it bairly smokes, you can unplug the MAP sensor and it will fuel the bottom end harder and smoke a bit more, but once the boost comes up there is no differance.

You need a box that taps the pump to get much more smoke and alot more power, the Comp box sure does smoke.

holley blue pump = junk in my experience. waste of money. 2nd, any of the boxes that tap directly into the injection pump wire will give you more smoke. The smarty is a good program but it simply reflashes the factory settings, adds some timing etc. if you want a real smoker, get a TST COMP box or an Edge drag comp, Put it on, leave the smarty in and run both. Itll smoke then, but make sure you have 1! a bettr fuel pump, the holley just wont cut it. 2! a good set of gauges(some boxes have controllers with digital gauges), make sure your at least get a boost gauge, pryometer to monitor your EGTs and a fuel pressure gauge. If you have an Auto, get a trans temp gauge as well. 3! Once you get it to smoke, please do not go around smoking and lugging the thing all over town, we've got enough EPA issues and it costs $$$$ for all that unburnt fuel which is what creates your smoke.

i get a fair amount of smoke with my smarty on 9 and duration 2. its not a lot. just some when i take off hard in 2nd gear (6 speed) and clears up pretty quick and is just a slight haze when i shift to 3rd and nothing in 4th and 5th. it will smoke pretty good though when ya lug the hell out of it. plus my overhead tells me im getting 24mpg with my corrected tire size and smarty on 9 :jump:

as for my overhead console its always been acurate with in 1mpg. but we'll see how im really doing the next time i fill up and hand calculate it.

First I never said I thought i would get laid, I said picking up pussy, secondly I havent heard anything good about stacking chips, heard it causes injector issues so I was a little leary of that I dont really want any major failures as far as that so Ill probably keep the smarty on there get a hot rod pump and a bigger pump and also last but not least a set of gauges.

i guess after the tire change, and even though i corrected the speedo, it is a dream-o-meter. :nope: hand calculated its 18.9 mpg. but i was using the 'big pump' at the fill station and couldnt get as much in the tank so it maybe a little better then that. IMO still not bad. i was used to getting 10mpg out or my jeep so im happy :rocking:

If your put a Hot Rod VP44 on there and still keep the Smarty, Sorry to say, but thats basically still the same thing as stacking. The Hot Rod VP44 already has a Computer ontop the pump to demand more fuel, so it like tapping the pump wire.

BTW - I have had three differant stacks and i aint had a preblem with injectors, other than changine them for more power. I had a Jim Jessup Tune stacked with an Adrenaline, and the Jim Jessup stacked with the Edge"DRAG"Comp, and I currently run a TST Comp stacked with a TS MVP?

quad adrenaline on the factory level 10 ...smokes in all gears with a slight haze in 5th doing 70 ...stock injectors stock turbo ...bhaf...

quad or edge will give u the smoke u want with good power to... which is what u really should after!!!!!!!!

i got a smarty and with it on 9 i can black out stop lights i dont no what it is but it just makes my truck smoke like a bastard i am ordering 100 horse big dawgs and i have just heard that it will smoke even more after that

Don't be worried about all blow and no go. Build it right. The poor cummins don't deserve that kind of abuse it's thirsty for fuel (airdog or fass) and can't speak it's mind (gauges). A mad cummins is a bad cummins. Treat her right

i had a smarty on my truck and smoked a bunch put still have great low end power, but if you really want smoke and POWER sell the smarty and get a quazilla adrenaline w/pulse monitor. you can monitor your fuel, boost, egt, trans, ect... but i have a quadzilla on my truck and love it, but make sure you get a better lift pump like a FASS or Air Dog and a tranny upgrade but thats just my .02
