Just installed a 2.5 inch leveling kit from Hell Bent Steel. Install was pretty easy and it went back together pretty easy as well, didnt have any left over parts!! haha. I had to rent a spring compressor from Advance Auto but other than that just basic hand tools, 2 jack stands and 2 bottle jacks! :choochoo:

Just an fyi if your willing to take the top control arms loose its fairly easy to install one of those without a spring compressor also.

I used two ratchet straps to compress the springs and jacked the opposit side of the axle up. A little dangerous but it got the job done. I still got 10 fingers.

i tried a ratchet strap (1"), barely even compressed the spring.. haha I am glad you have 10 fingers left!!
when compressing the spring with the compressors, i thought i was going to break the tools!! while i was tightening with my impact, I thought, well it's either going to break and hit me, the truck, or my boat... however it never broke but it sure did bend... :c:

looks good i have the same kit. i used 2 or 3 ratchet straps, i was pretty scared haha it was like a time bomb just waiting to go off but luckily it didnt.

BINGO

Rooster24v 03-07-2011 08:05 AM

another thing too, when i had the shocks out it seemed like my brake lines limited how far i could drop the axle. i definitely didnt want to stretch or snap those!!

1AMatt 03-08-2011 12:22 PM

I like it :c: Time for some bigger tires now! Any idea what size your gonna run? Also did you put new shocks in?

Matt, I am going to keep my original wheels and tires on it.. sounds like my wife gave me the OK in a year or so to upgrade to a newer truck.. so ill probably just leave it like this ...for now! also i am running the stock shocks.. i do hear a clunking noise comming from the front left.. im guessing that the shock is at the very end of its limit thats what is making the noise.. gonna put another rubber spacer on top of the shock just under the 3 bolt shock bracket hopefuly that solves my lil issue

ALSO i did get a front end alignment, the guys at the alignment shop said it was towed out quite a bit.

1AMatt 03-10-2011 11:38 AM

Looks good the way it is! No need to put more money into it if your gettin a new truck soon... 2.5 inches is pushin it for stock shocks, so that clunk may be your shock maxed out. Or it could be any one of the numerous front end problems Dodge is know for lol

ZX10Aviator 03-10-2011 12:23 PM

Any before pics? I gotta do mine too...

KillStroker 03-10-2011 12:37 PM

Did you do the drop sway bar brackets? Has anyone. Do you think they make a difference. So rooster other than your clunk noise, how is the ride in the truck?

Rooster24v 03-11-2011 12:21 AM

Yes i did use the sway bar drop brackets no way the sway bars would have hooked back into the frame. the ride is a tick harder than i remember. it feels different, maybe its just me but i can tell driving it that the front sits up higher..

KillStroker 03-11-2011 06:34 AM

Good deal Looks nice:tu:

chad83181 03-12-2011 09:08 AM

Cant wait to do mine.

Rooster24v 03-12-2011 06:11 PM

its actually not that hard to install, just time consuming. :c:
also when i had the springs out i quick hit them with black paint.. what a difference!

sawyer45306 03-13-2011 06:56 AM

The last set I helped a friend install, we took several strands of baling twine and tied the springs tight before we removed them, then took my manure loader bucket and compressed them a bit more and tied in some more twine and set the springs in place then cut the twine and all done.

Hillflyer 03-13-2011 01:35 PM

It looks very clean, nice job!
