Transmisssion weak points

Hey all I just got a hold of a buddie of mine that decided to sell his truck. It's a 96 2500 with the auto transmission(although i can't remember if its a 47rh/re). But the truck has no over drive and the tranny has to come out so while I'm there what are the common areas the diesels have problems with. I plan on starting out stock torque rating but it probably wont take long for me to destroy that number. I'm not sure were the power will end up so over built would be better. So saying all of that I have built a few 46re's and one 727 a few times(mostly to check for damage since it's in the race car) so i have a good idea as to whats in there and how to play with the valve boddies and such. Here is what i was thinking for the build start with a 727 input shaft and drum(5 frictions and steels vs 4), a direct clutch power pack from PACT transmission(again 5 frictions and steels), a Conan super sprag, 5:1 ratio intermediate band apply lever and heavy duty strut, maybe a larger intermediate servo, the heavy duty spring in the overdrive(can't remember the actual name right now), and some valve body modifications. Top it all off with a triple disk converter and i should be all set correct?

the weak points are the TC, then the input, then output, then clutches.

if your planning on power, get a billet input and output shafts. get a good tripple disk TC and a good valve body :tu:

Hate to hi-jack but, where do you draw the lines as far as motor mods to trans mods? How much power before you start worrying about auto trans failure?
