What tuner?

i want to buy a tuner for my truck soon and was dead set on getting a smarty but i know there are plenty of options out there. What tuner is really the best bang for the buck?

edge drag comp

Quadzilla Adrenaline w/ Pulse.... 10 stages of power from Milage mode to HOLY CRAP! It comes WITH an EGT probe. You can link your iPod, iPhone, iPad to it to make a color display screen. Or if no iProduct it has display for gauges (the Pulse). You can do custom tuning, set alarms and backdowns to kill power if you get to high on settings (egt to high for example)

You can monitor the following on the Pulse display... 4 per screen and 2 screens (quick switch between 2 screens with one simple button)

-EGT
-Boost
-Transmission Temp
-Coolant Temp
-Fuel Pressure (low side)
-RPM
-MPH & Corrected MPH
-ECM Voltage
-Back-down %
-TPS %
-IAT
-Fuel Temp
-Power Level
-Oil Pressure
-Engine Load %

I have one and i wouldnt recommend anything else... It is FING SICK! :rocking:

having my own shop i have tried many different tuner setups, the ones ive tried are edge comp, drag comp, tst, smarty, smarty revo, juice w/attitude, van akken, and now i have the quad w/adrinaline 4K. and now i would deffinatly say the quad is the most radical and impressive tunner i have played with. it was the best money i have spent on a tuner and i even had several stacked setups and none of the stacks even compare to the stand alone capabilities of the 4K. just stay away from anything that says banks on it. and some of the downloaders they have "dirty" tunes and can really do some damage to the engine and electronics on the truck.

i just read up on that quadzilla with adrenaline 4k and it mentioned something about the 4k needing valve train modification. So that tuner wouldnt be a good match for my truck or is it a feature that you dont need to use?

Like Luke said... Just get the REGULAR Quadzilla Adrenaline w/ Pulse... I am running the regular quad. I have NO reason to use the 4k. I believe the whole point behind 4k is you can eliminate your rev limit and take her to the SKY with RPM?!?

BUY THIS! http://dieseldawgs.com/Dodge-Dodge-C...duct_info.html

Tell him to hook you up on price HAHA! :jump:

sky high being 4400. and mods to the valve train means heavier valve springs and HD push rods. if your not into really high hp you wont benifet from the added rpms anyways. the quad says 180 rwhp 420 tq thats more than any others on the market. i was talking with brady at II the other day and we were talking numbers on a few setups and the 4K was brought up and he has a truck out there running one with a few other mods and he said dyno numbers on the 4K are almost 230 rwhp. so it does crank out a few more than quad posts for the regular adrinaline. i havent got mine on a dyno yet so i cant say if those numbers are repetative or if that truck is a freak. but i know mine feels like more than 180. i do know that my edge-smarty stack dyno proved 204 and the 4K feels stronger on the track and road. but even with the 4K tune in the quad a stock vp or a hrvp will not turn the full 4400. they will only make it to about 4200 ish. but the modified vps will make the full 4400 or just a hair more.

That is all fine and dandy, but at what rpm does the vp make it's power? Way less than 4k rpm. The 4k tune is not for hp it's for rpm to keep moving down the track or pulling. You can really see this in a dyno graph. the power a vp makes is early. I know my standard edge juice box made 160hp over what it made with no programmer on. I never did the test to see how it worked with box off injectors and bigger turbo. Seat of the pants sure can fool you though.

Agreed, the VP makes max power HP wise between 2100 and 2400 usually, this is true even of the hotrod pumps weve tested on the dyno. The only difference is that the modified pumps seem to fall off a tad less power wise as the RPMs go over 2700, but it still does decrease. In reality, by the time you hit the mid 3k rpm range, youre down at least 50 percent on torque and about 30 percent power. Ive seen guys put hotrod pumps on their trucks and LOSE 50-60 hp vs a stock pump. keep in mind that a hotrod is essentially a bored out sleeve with the same pluggers so yeah, youre gaining CC flow but losing pressure. making power out of a VP is all about CCs and pressure and getting the mix of each right. Now the moster VPs are not only machined out but feature an equally bigger plunger, these seem to help quite a bit. unless you are pulling or drag racing a lot, in my opinion, the 1800 bucks is better spent elsewhere. the SO vp will flow enough to make any daily driver who does the occasional sled pull or drag run pretty happy and make some good dyno numbers too. Heck, we had a truck on the dyno last yr with twins running a stock VP lay down 850hp :rocking:
