Tuning the ECU

I want to get my Truck Tuned but I don't know anyone that does that sorta thing. Have any of you had it done? I'm not just talking about buying a programmer, I want someone that knows what there are doing to go in and Tune my ECU. Any suggestions?

Not gonna happen... Easiest answer

Ok??? So your telling me that you can't get your ECU Tuned? What about when people get their trucks Dyno'd? Don't they have people tuning to get more out of it to make more Power?

No. Prolley never gonna happen for the VP folks. EFI is coming for the CR. Which is the type of software you are talking about.

on the dyno they just hit different setting on the programmers they are running in the truck

Oh ok, That's were I got the mixup I guess. My buddy with a Powerchoke was telling me about it. I didn't know if it could be done with our trucks or not. Thanks for the info.

Smarty is the closest we can get to tuning. Or Adrenaline with the custom programs you can create.

D-LUX 12-29-2010 10:36 PM

well its sort of possible to have the ecm "tuned"

back in the day before everyone was tuning these things there were a few companies that would tune the ecm.. sort of like what the smarty would do for you.. but it was very old school...your better off just finding a used comp box and grabbin some guages jmo

While on the subject, it may not hurt to have your cpu's reflashed.

I have heard that Jessup used to do that, but don't have any credible sources on that. Other than that as a possibility, the only one I am sure about was the Catcher tuning. But that is just a smarty.

Not many people of cracked these ECMs. As cool as EFI live is, there are still some better programs out there that function in real time that make tuning much more efficient. However, none of them are available for our trucks.

What exactly does this do? Estimated Cost?

01quadcab 12-31-2010 01:18 PM

it's about 100 bucks and it brings your cpu current it's really helps if you buy a used truck and it has a super chip or something in the comp and your new edge doesn't work right on level 5 or 6.

InsaneDomestics 12-31-2010 03:22 PM

Oh ok. Thanks!

Sean

He still does, about 1 out of every 3 trucks around here is running one of his tunes.
