Fuel pump issues

I have a 2001 2500, i bought the edge juice with attitude and i noticed my fuel pressure was low. (8 at idol- drops to 2 when I stomp on it) even on stage 2 it will beep at me. Idk what to do because I hear people say just get a new pump when pressure is low. I did that and its still low... I was wondering if there is a way to just turn up the pump I just bought? It seems to function just not at a high enough volume.

It is a 5 speed, manual, cold air intake, strait piped, 2 inch lift with 35's. nothing too special but its my baby help if you can! I don't wanna have to buy a injector pump...

it sounds to me your going to need a fass or an airdog system to get your fuel pressure. My buddy went through that too. Your factory electric lift pump will not put out enough pressure.

I have looked into the fass system but kinda bummed about the cost. I know on the 12 valves you can turn them up a little. there is a fuel pressure regulator in the 24 valve If I was to put a shim on it or something would that help? Or what if I was to just get bigger fuel lines. Im not sure what the possibilities are besides just another fuel pump like the fass

I assume you have a block mounted pump?
When was the last time the fuel filter was change?
It could be a failed overflow valve in the VP44 return line bolt. If it has failed nothing is holding the fuel in the pump, it is all free flowing back into the tank. They are about $30, and I recommended they are changed as part of a maintenance plan. Ever 60,000miles (100,000kms).

I changed the filter right after getting my pressure guage, it is the block mounted injection pump but my lifter pump is in the tank? How do I find the return bolt in the VP44?

#4 is the one your after. I'm not saying that it the problem, but it could be. $30 would be a cheap fix.

Since you have the intank pump, your pretty much in trouble. I had one as well, and m fuel pressure was crap. I know it is expensive, but he best best is a FASS or AirDog with a Vulcan Draw Straw V.

Just get a raptor 150, its alot cheaper than the $500-$900 FASS or Airdog1-2 and it can run up to 20 psi (but you shouldnt run that on a vp44, youll burn it up). i use a raptor on my p pump and get 35 psi out :tu: plus their like $350

OP,

Just like conner stated, you can get away with a raptor. I have even read threads where a raptor was used and the person was able to put a couple of filters in line for a similar setup like a FASS or Airdog at a fraction of the cost. Do a seach on here and you can find some good reading and get some ideas. Hope it helps.

i think that it would be wise to get the real deal. the raptor is ok but if you are not careful you can have fuel leaks every where because the pressure is to high coming from the raptor. trust me ive done it. besides having the large filters is nice.

I would do some checking....I beleive the Raptor 150 is the same pump as air dog 150 just without the filters. It is also adjustable...I've been happy with mine, I have it set to 19 at idle and it will not pull down below 14 with juice on level 5.
