Southbend clutch installed now cant shift
 

I installed a SB double disc clutch kit in my 01 about a week ago. I got the whole kit with the new input shaft new fly wheel etc... I also got the SB master and slave cylinder kit. Now I have a problem, I can't shift the truck like I think I should be able to. If the truck is not running and I push the clutch in, I can run through the gears with one finger on the shifter-no problems. If I start the truck in neutral with the clutch in and try to shift into reverse it will not go. If I force it, it will either grind or it will go into reverse like the clutch is left out a little - which it is not. Also, if I am rolling up to a stop and I go to put it in second, it will also jump like the clutch is not all the way in. I have the adjustable SB master and I adjusted it so the pedal is a little higher than the brake pedal, that is what I was told to do by SB. So what gives, any ideas? I have read that some people are having this problem, anyone figure it out? is there a fix? help please.. I paid alot for this clutch and am going to be really PO'ed if this is what I have to deal with now. Oh and I have about 1200 or more miles on it so I think the so-called break-in should be good now.

Need to adjust the pedal until shifting becomes easier, It kept changing it's mind on me and going up and down. Have you used the clutch to it's power potential yet?

I have adjusted the pedal ill keep playing with it. As for using it to the full potential no I don't think so the only way I think I could is to make it slip and no I can't make it slip. I will be adding a NOS system this winter though so we will see. Gota do head studs first.

Has anyone had any luck figuring out this problem? I see several other people had this happen. Also I just pulled the trans back out to double check my install and had a couple others look at it to just to verify. All is fine with istall. I also changed the trans fluid to Royal purple that didnt help either.

any probs with the hydros?

it's gotta be a hydro problem. Bleed it again. And again. And again. Did you bench bleed the master before you installed it? If not, it could take a very long time to get all the air out...

If the hydros came from SB they should be pre-bled.

Yes the hydros are from SB and are brand new. I just drove it and the clutch is not releasing. If you put it in reverse the truck will jump like the clutch is not pushed in. I think the peadal feels to soft. Ive tried to adjust the pedal up/down but it does nothing Anyone ever need to bleed the SB hydros even though they are suppost to be pre-bled.

do you need a spacer on the throw out bearing, so it moves it farther? can the shift fork be put in backwards? these are things that can happen on other cars, not sure if they apply here though.

Not sure about a spacer on the throw out bearing. I just checked by pulling the tranny back out the shift fork and everthing else is installed correctly. A spacer on the throw out bearing sounds like what it needs.
