holly blue electric

would it be possable to set up a holly blue electric to my 01 high output 24v cummins? idw blow anything up but extra horse is always a plus. someone told me they weren't compatable. any ideas?

Yes, it possible. But they are not compatable with diesel. Several people have used them with limited results.

You will not get any performance out of a better fuel pump. Thats not the purpose.

As someone else told you in your other thread - you need to install a fuel pressure guage.

any idea were id get a decent one?or how much they cost?and would it be better to get one thats in-cab moniter? or one u check every once and awhile?

You need a guage in the cab you can monitor, I would suggest you request a quote from the sponsors here :c:

You have to mount the fuel pressure guage in the cab so you can keep an eye on the lift pump pressure at all times. If your lift pump does not supply the injector pump with enough fuel to lube and cool itself it will die prematurely. Therefor the need for a fuel pressure guage. Spend some time reading here and you will learn all about it.

Any one of your sponsors can hook you up with a fuel pressure guage or anything else you may want or need. Request a quote here:

i see alot of cummins running the blue electric though. they are sapose to be for diesel just not electric injection is what ive ben told. and it ran fine on mine till the old fuel pump blew up. is there any major problems with puting it back up on my truck?:humm:

my holley black been on for 4 yrs an still has 15wfo and 22 idle

I'd use the black if I wanted a Holley. They are rated higher flow than the blue, like 140gph free flow, IIRC. Only problem with them is they are loud. Edelbrock makes a similar 150gph vane fuel pump that is much quieter, but more expensive, part# 1792. That is the backup pump on my 1st Gen. Nice pump, but spendy. I think I paid like about $140 for it.

If I was doing a lift pump on that truck I'd use a Walbro with regulator setup. It's a little more complicated to install, but ends up costing about the same and probably alot more reliable in the long run.

Re: holly blue electric

I didnt think the Walbros were compatable with the super low sulfer diesel.

The only fuel pump compatibility issues with diesel I know of is some of the older diaphragm pumps or pumps without edpm or viton seals would not be bio-compatible.

I'm not aware of any modern electric fuel pump of any kind made in the last ten years that wouldn't be happy pumping any kind of diesel all day long. ULSD is harder on anything it touches, but that's not really a compatibility issue.
