fuel pressure question

never got a reply on my original thread so ill try again

ok so im pretty happy with the install..tapped the banjo bolt on the fuel filter housing for fuel gauge probe and found a test port on the trans right at the out line to the rad for the temp probe and installed the pyro probe on the manifold pre turbo and the oil probe went into the plug on the oil filter adapter

so i got 1300 F on the pyro at full load going 50 mph up an 8% grade..is that ok??..the pyro on my 7.3 PSD may get to 1000 but post turbo..i know add 200 degrees to that..seems awfull hot for stock..i am 23,000 lbs though..thats how ive been driving her for a year w/out gauges cause its stock..another ton to my gvw will be added soon

my fuel pressure at full load (same as above) goes to only 6 psi..should i be concerned?..normally its at 10 psi at normal speed/load..now keep in mind please this is a bone stock app 5.9 cummins with 225 HP ..i read 10 minimum on some other posts..at full load is my question?..other wise its runnng lke a top!

trans get to about 140F..i need to drive it for a few hours to get that up to temp i already know that from getting the right fluid levelcorrect at hot...oils 35psi (hot)-75 PSI cold

sorry guys isspro gauges were installed last week

Hey

Pyro sounds pretty hot. What kind of mods (if any) do you have? For sustained operation, you will want to keep the EGT's under 1250 - my opinion of course. I see now thats towing 23k...thats probably normal then.

Do you have a stock air filter? How about exhaust stock or otherwise?

Fuel pressure is borderline. Most will say it should be 10 psi min at WOT.

Trans temp - AFAIK, those test ports are to measure pressures - they arent for measuring temp. You will want to move the probe to the pan or the hot line. This will give you more accurate temperature measurement.

no mods what so ever..because of the application nobody makes anything after market for this engine..trust me ive asked everybody ..stock paper air filter that looks like a small keg..lol..its so big im sure its getting as much air as a cloth filter..stock 4" exhaust no cat..it only has 50k miles on it btw

these new gauges i feel may be out some as they seem cheap..i could only get a 40 psi fuel gauge so im in the bottom end of the calibrations..i bet if i replaced the lift pump it would be the same..just dummie sensors also (except the pyro probe) made by children in a 3rd world country in my opinion..they sure look good in the 4 pod piller though..1000$???

This must be a medium duty truck??? Freightshaker? F-700??

$1000??? why? I think you could have done a WHOLE lot better than that, with our sponsors anyway.

Whcih Isspros did you get? EV's, EV-2's? Or the old style ones? Believe it or not, Isspro makes a pretty good guage and theyve been doing it for around 90 years now.

ev-2's and they were purchased threw one of your sponsers -f-650..i paid someone to put them in right

so now ive had a couple runs at the local hill here (2 miles straight up) and if i dont keep it WOT the fuel pressure hovers around 7-8 psi and the pyro is at 1200f @ 35mph or so..i bought a stock carter lift pump for 120$ delivered to my door so ill have that put in anyways just to be on the safe side and keep the current one as a spare...

on my way to mexico this winter im stopping in at banks in LA california to see what they can do..im going to show up unanounced as nobody wants to touch this rig with the apps i got..and seeing the etg's i can understand why now..a friend suggested propane injection for those few minutes of lack of power on the hills..anyone got an opinion there?

this may not be in a dodge, but still a stock carter pump is not the answer. Isspro gauges are very accurate and hold up better than the autometer ones do. They say 7psi is the minimum to keep the vp alive. You can always add some injectors to the mix.
