hx35/40 hybrid
Is it worth doing? How much horsepower would it support? Does it offer a substansial difference over my stock hx 35? Just curious because I have heard a little about it and buying the parts wouldn't be too expensive to turn my stock turbo into a hybrid.
spool stays pretty much the same because you keep the same turbine/exhuast housing. but with the bigger compressor, your air volume is increased. i'm looking to do the same thing, but they're out of stock right now. i called htt about what needs to be machined to make it fit, you just need to clearance the center section a little bit to accept the bigger compressor housing and wheel. i forgot to ask if it needed to be balanced, in which case, might as well send to whole thing in to be done; or just slap it together and hope for the best.
I guess I should be more specific, I want to know if the hybrid would support my edge fueling with 150hp fireballs and a 4 inch exhaust would be added also. I'm trying to aim for somewhere around 500 hp or close to give or take 50 hp. I wouldn't be doing this for awhile because a clutch will come before injectors I just was curious if I needed to save up for a whole new turbo also before I do injectors of that size
i dont think you will come to 500 hp with a hybrid i am close to 500 with a super 62, for a towing turbo the hybrid is the way to go i ran one for a year and a half and loved it had a backbrake aswell on it but had to make a choice bigger turbo or pacbrake
Yeah I kinda figured getting to 500 wouldn't be cheap, just was curious if nthe hybrid would work. I don't tow a lot but when I do its well under 10k, probably the most I've hauled since I got the truck was 3500 pounds of dirt to fill in the stalls in the barn. And even if I haul the horse trailer its only 5k plus 3 horses or less. And also hay but its mostly a street truck daily driven so I want something that can handle daily driving and racing. I got suggested to get a super b turbo from a well knowledged fella so I guess ill go with that if a hybrid won't work well.
