cooling system

when i drive my truck in the heat of the day down the highway doing 70 my temp will raise and my fan clutch will kick in. wondering if there is anything i can do to help this. heard about purple ice made by royal purple didnt know if that would help the problem or if it even works.

in my opinion, there should be some additive in the antifreeze. i have never replaced a water pump in anything i drive becuase i keep some sort of seal conditioner in it.
haven't tried purple ice tho.

Have you checked for any oily dirt buildup on the rad fins, look between the air conditioner condenser rad and the engine coolant rad. This is very common problem with our trucks because of the oil vapor coming from the breather bottle close to the fan:td:. My trucks rad was 50% blocked because of this.

when is the last time you changed the thermostat? mine seems to kick on and off even though it's only running at 195. but would rather be safe than hot. I just started running the amsoil coolant boost and it seems to run cooler.
