upgrades begin

i am soon to start my upgrades. This next week it will go in to get valves adjusted and the front cover sealed to stop leaking. Then i am wanting to put in an air intake, which one should i do, i travel at least four miles of dirt road daily, an edge juiced with attitude cts, and a fass system, which one do i want? what order should i do these and what brands etc. thanks

I suggest getting your transfer pump upgraded first, then the Edge. If you don't, the Edge will request more fuel than is supplied by the factory pump, and cook your VP44. The Edge Attitude will supply gauges and alert you of low pressures, or high temperatures.

I would suggest an AFE stage 2, and buy the sock to go around the filter as well.

Fass, edge, bhaf save yourself some money and just run a big nappa filter and get a sock for it. cost a lot less than air intake kit.

if you crave more power after that get a smarty! then do some tranny mods

i ordered my icebox with an s&b just now!! and ctd that is actually the plan. What do you guys think about replacin my 5 speed with a custom built 6 speed?? Rawilliams- i will get the fass before the edge. which kit do you recommend?? there is a lot of options.... and 01quadcab..I like to do things the right and clean way..not the cheap way thanks for the idea though

In regards to the FASS, I personally have a "do it one" attitude. I bought the Heavy Duty Series 150/150. Even though my mods aren't crazy at this point, they will one day. I shouldn't have to change my LP pump again.
I have heard you can bang gears faster with the 5-speed, and a 6-speed is better for towing.

yeah keep the five speed, a 6 speed has closer ratios but has a lower final gear than a 5speed, you can go faster with a 5.
not to intrude on the thread but how much fuel pressure do you have with the fass system?

you can build a nice heat shield and all for them thats all there is a ton of info out there on them. When you do compounds you have to go custom so why not start that way.

kegs99 06-14-2010 11:39 AM

as far as the edge goes..should i do an ejwa cts or a comp box? for the price of the ejwa i can do a comp box and gauges and still be money ahead...but whats truely better??

01quadcab 06-14-2010 02:27 PM

It depends on who's gauges your running. You want to make sure you have a fuel pressure gauge. I like the comp box and mechanical gauges. The boost gauge was off by over 10psi on my juice so I lost a head gasket due to that. Just less electrical things to go wrong.
