hx40 explosion
I was running a hx40 turbo on my 24v and on my way home from work last night it exploded at full boost blowing off the compresser housing....thinking about a s300 what do you guys thing?
|
I think that sucks. That is your turbo blowing up:ouch: As far as the s300 can't give ya a lot on that as I have never run one. I'm sure someone here can give ya some feedback on that turbo:tu:

what kinda hx40 was it? it wouldnt have been one of the cheap ones off of ebay was it? and have a few friends runnin the s300 and they have nothing but good things to say about it. it might be my next charger as well
|
i didnt buy the turbo off ebay....i have seen these turbos and they just look cheap...my buddy had one of those and it sent a piece of compresser wheel into the valves not good at all:ouch:....i would like to find a used s300 instead of paying 10 billion dollars for a new one lol
|
are you really running 250hp injectors on a hx40? 250's are too much fuel for a single. what boost numbers where you pushing when she blew? The hx40 is not known for strong shafts. a s300 is a good tough charger.
|
I was pushing around 50psi out of my hx35 and 40psi out of the hx40 when it let go...I think i have been maxing out the hx35
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- thats what happened the shaft twited off at the compresser wheel:s: |
I honestly have to say that the s300 style chargers are worth it. I'm very happy with mine and if you don't want to spend alot try to find a big truck/heavy equipment salvage yard and you'll find a s357 or s362 on a cat c7 engine.:tu: Thats where i got mine.:w2: Only issue is you'll need to get a boost elbow. Stock waste gate is set at 25lbs on them:rocking:

The problem you had with your HX40 cover blowing off is common when you do not pin the cover, your not the first this has happened to and will not be the last.
