Sport Headlight Conversion - Which Harness?

Some derivation of this has been discussed ad nauseam on other boards... but not here... and I have questions. Sorry if you're tired of reading about this conversion.

I was almost killed the other night, it woud've been my fault... I could not see due to lack of light from my "headlamps". They are yellow, and cracked up, and most of the refletive material inside has chipped away. I can barely see anything at night.

SO.. I bought a new set of sports, and am in need of the harness to do the conversion. Here are my options:

$60 LMC Truck Harness
$133 SUVlights.com
$79 Daniel Stern Lighting (this kit requires the wires and soldering/crimping, BUT this allows me to use whatever gauge wire I want)

Of course... I WANT to use the LMC one b/c it's the cheapest... but I have fears that it will be a cheap Chinese load of crap. The SUV lights one is the easiest KNOWN GOOD quality. The daniel stern one isn't hard, but it's not just plug and play.

Thoughts?

The LMC harness will not illuminate all bulbs in both high beam and low beam situations as the SUVLights kit or the Daniel Stern kit will. I would recommend against the LMC kit as all it does is reroute the power to your bulbs from the switch to the batteries. It's up to you whether or not you want to build your own kit and save a few bucks. If so you can go the Daniel Stern route, otherwise you are better off with the SUVLights kit.
Good luck in your choice! :c:

That's exactly the information I was looking for. I WANT to be able to wire it up such that I can shine all four bulbs when in HIGH beam mode. I had a feeling that I wouldn't be able to do that with the LMC one.

Daniel Stern it is. :) I'll order it tomorrow (since they don't do online ordering), probably hit up waytek wire for the cabling... and I idea how much I need?

Daniel Stern kit ordered. New soldering Iron ordered. :) Ready to get busy.

I have the LMC Harness (not in a sport conversion) - save your money the quality isnt very good and I expected much larger wire guage. I think the best and most difficult solution is to make your own harness.

Glad I didn't get the LMC one then!

If anyone cares, I'll take pics of the daniel stern kit when I get it.

I have a link somewhere for connectors - I will post it up for you guys if I can manage to find it in my many bookmarks.

Daniel Stern kit canceled. What a prick. (He'd probably blame me; I'm okay with that; He's still a prick)

I guess I'll be piecing this together by myself. I'll post the links to where I source everything in hopes that it will assist someone in the future. :c:

Here's the breakdown of what I ordered and what is neccessary to do the conversion from stock non-sport light to the sport lights.

9004/9007 Male Socket w/ 14ga Pigtails - $6.50/ea need 1 (I mistakenly ordered 2. DOH)
9004/9007 Headlight Socket w/ 12ga Pigtails - $6.50/ea need 4
ATO/ATC Fuse Holder - $3.25/ea need 1
40 amp 12 volt Relay - $4.50 need 3
Heavy Duty Relay Holder - $5.50 need 3

use 12ga wire from relays to headlight sockets. and 14ga wire from factory harness to relays.

I ordered my new parts from Innovative Wiring - Home, and will get task length colored wire from NAPA.

Hope that helps someone.

Excellent. Did not find that link yet. Have to check my other computer.

I'm looking to do this to my truck real soon. These factory single bulb headlights suck! If there is more infomation available, I'll gladly take it!!

Sup all,

RAW, here is something I found after I did a retro fit with projectors and HID. I am happy with my current setup, but last month one went out. So it is not just stop at the auto store and pick up a replacement. So I purchased a set of sport lights for the conversion. I have everything and just waiting for the right time to replace them. But this thread has alot of info on how someone built their own harness. Different than the LMC and the others mentioned.

hi this might b a dumb question but what is the sport headlight package u guys r talking about? my lights suck. looking to upgrade. dont want cheap china made junk.

RAW 01-14-2012 08:34 AM

Sport trucks came with two bulbs per headlight assembly, and non-sport only one. Double the bulbs, double the light. This page shows some differences:L

I believe there maybe some confusion. I found this harness from LMC
LMC Truck Parts - Page 61

IT does have the relays and takes the load off your switch BUT it still may be cheap quality. I was going to order from suvlights.com but there website is down.

I don't know if this will allow both HI/LO beams to be on at one time - but the tis an easy fix if you know anything about wiring.

I also have a link to get BOTH sides sport headlights for 83.00 - has anyone tried these?

Headlight Assembly items in 9611593 store on eBay!

If you guys have any feedback - please let me know. Im trying to build all this from overseas so when i get back to the states - i can upgrade my truck....

thanks - zack
