Mastercraft Courser CT

Well well well , after weeks and weeks of tring to figure out what exactly i am going to do with tires and rims on my truck , wanting to upgrade the rims , go up a size on the tires , which transformed in to needing exstended control arms 3rd gen track bar and all sorts of stuff that was going to cost lots of money i have decided my plan of attack .

Im going to restore my rims , i just dropped $145 at NTW on new Dick Cepek Stainless Steel Center Caps and for new lug nuts

After talking with a DC rep they dont make the d/c bolts for the bead locker any more and they sugguest just using stainless steel bolts , they told me the bolts are 8mm, thread is 1 ¼ where can i get them at ? and should i get brass ones?

And Procomp is moving there factory so everyone is sold out and they wont be making tires for 5 weeks and they didnt carry the 305/70/16 like im running now and i would of had to go to the 315's and wondering about the rubbing and fuel mileage and ect... so i said screw it , getting the 305/70/16 courser ct's ive done quite a bit of research and they go good in the snow and mud and have great tread ware , and they look aggressive for an AT tire so...

Im going to clean my rims up , add new lug nuts and center caps and go with the 305/70/16 courser ct's

Chrome plated Brass Bolt covers

DB Admin 02-10-2010 04:46 PM

$250 for the bolt covers lol no freaking way :argh:

DB Admin 02-10-2010 05:17 PM

Went with the Metric socket head screws, Stainless Steel A-2 (18-8), 8mm x 1.25 x 30mm

Got 50 of them for $29.05

to replace the bolts in for the bead locker ring that they never did come out with

Something that you could do to keep them nice once you get everything cleaned-up is to get it all powdercoated, you'll have to keep us updated on the tires, I've seen alot of people running them but I have heard a few people who didn't think too highly of them, but I haven't ruled them out as my next tires either.

I just cleaned up my winter rims last night. and got new center caps. my caps had twice the rust and they are only 3-4 years old. only run them in winter then they are washed and stored inside. what a difference a buffer and polish compound makes

Getting the tires through sponsor New Era Diesel for $800 Total Mounted and Balanced

Should be getting them on Monday

These tires look alot like my Cooper ST's.

They are going to be crappy on ice !

Why not go with 285's? They are as tall as a 305, are cheaper, get better milage, and dont throw crap all over the side of your truck due to being skinnier.

BTW, FYI - we have a forum for TIRE DISCUSSION...:D:D

ArizonaRedneck 02-11-2010 12:44 PM

i like the look of them one question if you have aluminum rims with a protective coating thats coming off how do you clean them up to look good again:humm:

Dr. Evil 02-11-2010 12:53 PM

You have to strip the clearcoat and then polish them 6 times a year after that.

DB Admin 02-11-2010 01:15 PM

i have 10 inch rims i dont want 285's

The rims were polished and clear coated from the factory how ever to use any chemical to clean them that was strong enough to clean them up was too harsh for the clear coat , i ended up stripping them with metal stripper from a welding shop and then polishing them ,

i have new center caps , lug nuts and bead locking bolts inroute that alone will make a big difference but i will take them off and clean the hell out of them .

oh and btw diesel trucks are getting 60,000 miles out of these tires , google it

Longhorn 02-11-2010 01:46 PM

I just went with a set of DynaPro ATM's for my truck, still swear by the Toyo's but needed something better for the ice...happy so far, and they were alot cheaper than most others...

Welcome to Hankook Tire

Welcome to Hankook Tire

Those looks a whole lot like Toyo at's

Longhorn 02-11-2010 02:32 PM

But the price tag is different lol...

They do look similar, but I have tried the Toyo A/T and I like these better, also deeper tread depth. Last Hankooks I ran were the best mileage tire I have had, but wernt any good in snow and ice.

One complaint though, and I seem to run into this all the time, no 10-ply E in my size. The weight capacity is only about 400# less than the Toyo M/T but I often need that 1600 #'s

I hate the M/T's on ice but at least if ya hit the ditch, you can drive back out lol

Just got my tires put on , Got them new from member PERFORMANCETRUCK he sells Master Craft tires and beat everyone around by $200

Just got back from Jason's shop where he mounted and balanced them for me . They are made by Cooper Tire. Its snowing like crazy here , i pulled out of his shop on new tires and right on to a State Route highway with 3" of fresh snow down ,,, not sure how they would do i tested them out , It was like i was glued to the road 55 MPH all the way home and i passed about 10 cars on my way .

I love them !!!

Got to my driveway and put it in 2wd to try to get stuck on my big mountain of a hill , I got on it hard with the Quad on Comp setting level 10 and dug 2 ruts all the way to the top :D

:rocking:

Thanks Jason !!!!

Guys if your looking for an Aggressive Looking all terrain tire with out sacrificing mileage i think i may of stumbled on to the perfect tire .. you dont have to take my word for it Google it

They are even 8 ply tires :choochoo:

i need some! i am in desperate need of tires. just blew out my sidewall on back tire tonight. luckily it waited till i got 2 miles from home.... i will def consider these tires. love the look. and if they perform like DM says then thats good to:yeah: ....now if i can just get my hands on some zep-a-lume:humm:

DB Admin 02-19-2010 06:40 AM

Ill get some photos , this weekend for you guys im really liking these tires now that ive logged a few hundred miles on them, call me crazy but the only other change ive made to my truck was taking the quad from 5 to 10 like i have always done but now i have no surge at all , first time ever i dont know how the tires would effect that they are the same size i had before ..... i really think my truck is just happy :)

diesel pap 02-19-2010 06:44 AM

i liked my mastercraft but they threw gravels bad. picked rocks up bad when they was newer.

2500superram 02-19-2010 07:00 PM

look's like they have hole's for stud's:humm:what is a 285=33" tall
i might look into a set of these for my hummer wheel's

performancetruck, what is the width on those wheel's pictured,if you don't mind?

DB Admin 02-20-2010 05:42 PM

Here you go guys i went to the car wash because i dont want water all over my driveway in the middle of winter , i drove up my driveway about 2 MPH but still got em dirty ,

As you will see the the Bead locking bolts are missing , that's because Dick Cepek told me the wrong bolt size so now i have to re order new ones , i did hit the rims with some stripper they are not polished yet , these are the new s/s dick cepek center caps and lug nuts from National Tire and Wheel the tires came from member PERFORMANCETRUCK as he is a Master Craft Dealer , i stand by these tires thus far as they are remarkable on and off road , no road noise great cornering and they have went everywhere i had to use 4x4 with the Fun Country II's let alone these tires are Made in America and Cost less than the bigger name tires .

2500superram 02-21-2010 08:28 AM

thanks for the info guy's.i just don't want the tire's to look narrow on the rim's and those look good

2500superram 03-03-2010 08:16 PM

still liking the tire's DM? got some mile's on them now?
i've been looking at tire spec's and the max load is 3000#.thats a little lower then the other's,i'm considering(hankook dynapro atm rf10,firestone destination at)with a 3195#.they seem to have a nice deep thread and great look though.
