Turbo advice/recommendations

Ok guys Im planning on purchasing a turbo here in the near future but Im not shure which one to go with:humm:. Im looking for one that would be good to support the juice, 150 horse injectors, and maybe a smarty. I thought about getting the super phat shaft 62 from IIS but Im not shure so if anyone could offer any advice Id greatly appreaciate it:tu:
Thanks in advance

Andrew

I have customers running 150's and a 62/65/14 and there making around 500hp. The 62/71/14 should work great. Give me a call sometime were working on some custom made turbos.

the super phat shaft series are very good turbos.

I run a High Tech Turbo HTB2 62/13, and i love it, great spool up and sweet top end, High Tech also sets their wastegates to around 45psi, so you dont accidently blow the head gasket under high boost.. of course every truck is different. I have had excellent customer service with high tech also. (and great customer service from Lukesdiesel as well!!):tu:

sounds like a great choice, and with the stick you wont have to worry about the exhaust housing like an auto. I don't like my 14 for daily driving. Since you already have the edge, I wouldn't get a smarty. a few people I have heard that have run them stacked with the edge lost power on the dyno and et at the track. I would go with mach brand injectors.

Another quick ?, if I go with this setup would I be okay running just headstuds or should I have the head o-ringed to go along with it :humm:?

I would stud it and o-ring it, as it will make over 50psi. Or you can roll studs in one at a time for now, and see how long it lives. It's all in how one drives.

Under 500hp id just do studs. Just set the wastegate to 45psi.

Turbo Advice

I'm runnin' a 66/74 with a 14cm housing. Rockin mid-top end. Stack your smarty with an Edge comp to fuel your injectors (which will light up the new turbo faster). Give Luke a call-he just got set up with a custom turbo builder-he'll hook you up!:rocking:)
