It is a known fact that a SO VP44 will make more power than a HO VP44. I believe the starter of this thread was talking about a Hot Rod VP44.

 

The pump you have now will probably produce more HP then that HRVP ever would. They were a short lived fad that was way over hyped with no basis in reality.

I run a scheid hrvp on my truck and its prolly the best vp i have had.

 

Yeah I was talking about a hot rod pump guys sorry if I was unclear, I just wanted to know your thoughts on that pump being that it was pretty cheap because being up here in Canada most diesel shops I talk to they want $1700 for a SO or a HO pump, so I was just thinking that if I wouldnt lose any power compared to a SO pump but it would compare I would pick it up make sense?

 

Back in the day, I had a HRVP on an 02 H.O. You'll hear different opinions from different folks, but if I ever get another VP 44 H.O. it's gonna get a HRVP first thing. Might not be the king of the dyno, but for my use, I liked the manners of the truck with injectors and a boost fooler with that pump.

From what I gather, all HRVP's are not the same. That might explain why some people hate them and some people love them
