Torque Management
I was wondering what there is out there to remove the torque management from the truck. With my new sticks and turbo I can't build more than 5-8psi at the track. I can't get it to launch for poo now. My 60' is a 2.3 and I ran a 14.23. I believe I could be in the 13's if I could launch the thing a little harder. But it was still fun.

Easiest way is to clip the wire under the hood. You lose some gauges though. Or get a BD RAD. It has the TQ Man. delete and speed limiter delete. Gauges will still be goofy, but you can get a launch.
The Smarty removes most of the same, but it slows my truck way down. I am faster on the Juice alone with 210HP sticks. I have run 12.20 with the stock management in place with a 5# launch. You might drop some ET, but MPH will most likely be about the same. Dave |
if I can keep the truck from falling on it's face then taking off I believe it will run a lot better. what wire do you clip under the hood?

That's odd, i wonder what my truck's got for Injectors and such, cause I can launch / Shred tires at 15-20 Pounds of boost, and most people i hear from can't get over 10 # while Power breakin'

when in 4 wheel drive the torque management works. In 2 wheel I can boost as far as I want. running the juice with attitude hot unlock, 110 ddp sticks, a s300. I see yours is 2 wheel drive so I don't think yours comes with it.

The BD RAD is a pretty nice addition. I have one on my truck and was able to do 25psi boosted launches in 4hi with a stock charger and RV injectors. I haven't done enough playing around with the twins and big sticks. My only issue was the connectors I got with it were way too large, (but like an idiot) I used them anyways. I had the wire fall out a couple times, which caused a loss of gauges, and also caused the truck to die a couple times. I've since soldered the wiring and haven't had an issue. You may want to consider putting a switch inline, so that you can turn it on and off.
And the 2 wires the RAD uses are: VSS which is (white w/orange tracer) and is Pin #11 in connector number 2. CCD Bus which is (White w/black tracer) and is pin #5 in connector number 1. This is the one that I think does the torque management. The VSS is for the top speed eliminator feature. I tapped into the wires on the firewall, right at the main connectors, above the valve cover. Are 01s speed limited?

Supposedly yes they are. However, I'm not so sure of that, or the Boxes change that. I put the BD RAD on my truck within the first week, so I don't really know. But a friend of mine had an 01 and the only electronics he had was the edge drag comp, and we got that truck to start wrapping the speedo a couple times, probably close to 130mph. So I'm really not sure. The manual for my RAD says that it does though, don't remember what speed its supposed to be limited too though.

Who in their right mind would want torque management with 4WD ? i'd want to be able to roast all 4 tires coming out of the hole.. and not to mention getting unstuck from a mud hole

I got the bd top speed eliminator and it's switched and works great so I only use it on the track as you loose the speedo and tach. but it did do what I wanted.
