Longevity
I am looking at adding some things to my truck now that will hopefully help with the longevity of the truck. Should have done this the second i got it but i wasnt schooled on such things right away.
What are some of the best things to do? I mean i have gauges and what not but what other aftermarket parts will help.... From just reading and learning the past year I am looking at things like: Amsoil Synthetics Fuel Additive (i run powerservice) Oil Bypass Filter/s Deep Trans Pan added Fuel Filters (bigger inter cooler?) more air the better for egts? I mean what else is there to really help the longevity of the engine and really for the truck in general.?.? These are just a few things ive found by reading/researching. :pca1: |
I have added a fs 2500 bypass oil filter on my truck and haven't yet sampled the oil since putting it on but sure can see a difference in color of oil. not as black in 5000 miles. I also run petron plus oil additives in the entire truck. havent put any back in the engine since last oil change, having a hard time finding another dealer.

Forget the Power Service and start running 2 Cycle Oil.

you could ditch the K & N filter and go with a larger filter like Airaid, AFE, Volant... also a 4" exhaust will help. as far as longevity keep your fluids changed on a regular basis, use Synthetic fluids and get your engine intake and exhaust valves adjusted about every 50,000 miles.
I also agree on stop using the Power Service, I use Lucas fuel additive and havnt had a lick of problems. just my .02 |
Be glad to shoot you some figures when the time comes if you're serious about AMSOIL.

The synthetics are the best way to improve longevity and add them to the diffs too as you will gain mpgs from it and when running a fuel treatment make sure it passes the hfrr rating HFRR. I now run the amsoil diesel fuel concentrate, the 2 stroke works well too.

very nice. thanks for all the input.
