How would you install a Walbro pump. Do you use the stock pump relay to power it. Bypass Regulator and what kind? I have one and the system I have isn't to my satisfaction. Modified Pulse Width that only gives me about 7psi at idle and drops to 5 before coming up to 15 WOT.

FWIW, I believe some guys were seeing issues with running ULSD in the Walbros...might be worth checking out.

What kind of issues?

I can't imagine it being lubrication.

The pump is used for gasoline engines, too...

Yes, lubrication...maybe Im out in left field again?

I dunno... Those pumps were designed to work with gasoline, which has a helluva lot less lube than ULSD...

Its been quite awhile since I read about that Bill...probably wasnt worth mentioning.

Must of been somethin to the problem because almost all of the Diesel shops quit sellin Walbro's.

Apparently, the "problem" appears to be related to fully stocking all the Walbro models, and a diesel shop trying to compete price wise with the enormous gas performance shops.
In some cases,the Gas crowd had some issue with the diesel crowd selling certain models at competitive prices and cutting into their profits. So the Manufacturer requested the diesel shops carry a more complete line. This, of course, wouldn't work, since the Diesel crowd was only interested in one model.

Besides, it's better to keep the diesel market supporting diesel products, (All in the family, so to speak..) from a business standpoint.

Them dropping the Walbro had nothing to do with whether it worked or not from a practical standpoint. It was more from a "Business" angle.

Why sell a $100.00 pump, try to compete with E-bay, and all the Gas shops, when they can "specialize", and narrow the competition back down to the Diesel market?

In short, the margin for profit on a $500.00 Diesel pump is naturally going to be greater than that of $100.00 pump everyone has, including the bulk dealers on E-bay.

It actually makes sense to me.

But that is just the reason I came up with after my little time researching it. What do I know.

I have had the current Walbro pump and system on my truck for over 100,000 miles with no issues other that fuel pressure due to the system installed with the pump.
