we will have to try this when it gets really cold out and see if it does it or not. we normally plug it in at home but not at work.

thanks for the help guys, ill let ya'll know how it works out...

You may want to update to a new tune on the website. Some of the older original tunes were the ones causing the boxes to get hot and burn!!! Quad will no longer warranty a adrenaline with older tunes. I'm pretty sure on this. Do you have the pulse monitor? If so you can download any new tune and just take the timing down to 0:U:

This allows the engine to create increased heat in the cooling system, allowing more rapid engine warm up and cab heating.

Hey Doc are those parameters from the dealer doing a flash or is it from Mads website. I would think that you could do it to go at any temp you want. So does the smarty use the same parameters as the Dealers is my ?:pca1:

That is a good point - those specs are from DC not from Mads Electronics. I doubt very much that it is different but I cant say for sure. All I know is my Smarty enabled high idle works like a charm.

Moparman1973 has some interesting info and insight on his site. With the proper resistor you can fool the computer into thinking its colder than it actually is and get the high idle kicking on at different temperatures.

The Smarty uses the latest DC flash as its baseline software. So when you up load it then take it off it updates the engine computer to whatever the latest flash from DC was. So the specs from DC apply because it is the DC software.

yea unfortunately we do not have the pulse, because we dont have the money to get one...
i want the no timing though because i want the smarty doing the timing. i heard it was better to do it that way...

well an update. dad forgot to plug his truck in today at work, went out 10 min before work ended and fired it. before he got to the door to go back inside, it went into hi-idle. it was 18* out so the 3 cylinder shut down didn't work.

it does work tho guys. thanks alot.

The smarty handles my high idle.. It does it when it needs too. I can't explain when or why.
It's only gone into the 3 cylinder mode once since I've had it. The first (and only) time it happened, I thought I broke something. That thing rattled the windows throughout the house. I bet the neighbors three doors down could have heard it.

You probably heard it at your place... :c:

Glad it's working fine for you..:U:

Good to hear it's working. Really glad to hear the 3 cylinder mode didn't kick in:U: That would mean it's really cold. 18 degrees isn't cold enough for the 3 cyl to kick in. I really don't pay attention to the temps when mine does but I do know it has to be below 18:U:

Cumminsdieselboy 02-06-2009 10:01 PM

now i gotta figure out a way to make a hi-idle kit for my 12-er so it warms up, thats a whole other story...:argh:

Yup it does work, it was 35 when dad left work and it did not kick on.

If the 3 cylinder shutoff would have kicked in, i could only imagine what the people in phoenixville borough would think. they already complained about the truck in the morning and the trash trucks going in and out of the shop. o well they would get over it.:bat:

at least up here in pa we wont have to worry about high idle the next couple of days...:w2:
