Does a 24V need a boost elbow?

So, my 99 is giving me 23psi of boost. Do I need a boost elbow to up that? Or is it electronically controlled like everything else on the truck :humm:...

thats about all your gonna get with a stock truck, and yes BD does sell a boost elbow but once you get that smarty on there, you should be hitting 30 psi no problem which is what the wastegate is set at:5:

MotorOilMcCall 01-27-2009 05:57 PM

You mean 23PSI is all I'm gonna get with an XZT (or stock). So the stock wastegate is set at 30PSI, I really shouldn't need a boost elbow is what you're saying.

stkdram55 01-27-2009 05:59 PM

you might be able to squeeze 35 psi with the boost elbow I cant exactly remember...but yeah 23 is about it stock or with that XZT IIRC.

Yup you need an adjustable boost elbow :U:

I think I have one of these off my edge cuz I had the hy and couldn't use it let me know if you want it.:c:

I thought the wastegate was set at around 22 stock. You do need a boost elbow if you want to take advantage of any mods though.

I thought they were at 22 also because anything more than that without a box would set the cel.

Dodgehunter84 01-27-2009 09:43 PM

When my truck was stock, it would hit 25 psi and after I blocked the wastegate it would hit 30 psi. Now with all my bombs, it will go alot higher.

With a stock turbo your gonna lose efficiency rating around there someplace after 30psi and anything after that is just wasted wear and tear on the turbo.

agreed...stock turbo should be set at around 32ish...35 max...anything more is just blowing in hot air and not giving you anymore power/cooling
