Edge EZ or Superchips?

I need some imput, I'm running a TST powermax comp and an Edge EZ stack. Would a Superchips be any better than the EZ?:humm:

cummins24 12-28-2008 09:37 PM

Superchips micro tuner or D box?

I don't have much experience with them but I'm pretty sure they are around the same horsepower as the EZ

stkdram55 12-28-2008 10:38 PM

if the TST adds timing (im not sure) then no you cant run the superchips tuner because it will add too much timing, now if the TST is a fuel only box then yes i believe you can run it

Dodgehunter84 12-29-2008 09:05 PM

cummins24, microtuner is what i'm wondering about.
stkdram55 the TST is fuel only, i'm running an Edge EZ for timing now and was wondering if the Superchips microtuner would be any better than the EZ?

Get a Smarty! Those are awesome!

Dodgehunter84 12-29-2008 10:05 PM

I want a Smarty, but my buddy needs the money. I was going to buy the superchips off of him to help him out, and give it a try if it would be worth my time.

cummins24 12-29-2008 10:25 PM

I know a couple of guys with the microtuner and haven't had any problems out of it, smooth power, but they aren't stacking it with anything. A Smarty would give you wicked spool up :rocking: if you ever decided to go that route.

Dodgehunter84 12-30-2008 03:16 PM

Does the microtuner add any fuel, or just timing?

cummins24 12-30-2008 10:54 PM

I'm pretty sure it adds fuel too the guys I know that have it roll a little more coal then stock. I think its rated at 70HP. More fuel=more power

SNACKPACK 12-30-2008 11:40 PM

i ran the superchips stacked with th EZ for years and loved it. would it be better than the EZ, i dunno the power is the same between the two on their own. and i have no idea who has more timing.

i even run it on top of the adrenaline. it does add timing, not sure how much fuel it adds, but it definately made the smoke output on top of the EZ double.

it seemed to mostly just give a puff on the low end and then clear up, but stacked it smokes pretty good

Nobody yet has answered my question. Would it be worth my time to get the microtuner or would I be better off to keep my EZ?

Vols Fan 01-02-2009 04:05 PM

I had a Superchips microtuner on my truck, it actually was on it when I bought it. It was ok, but it didnt cost me anything. Then I took it off because it started making my truck do weird things like a stumble at idle or just shut down for no reason at idle. Took it off and no problems, VP is fine. I still have the Superchips for use as a scanner. I have the Hypertech now which I like a lot better than superchips, I am scared to get a chip that taps my pump wire which will void my VP warranty

Dodgehunter84 01-05-2009 11:02 AM

Vols Fan, has your VP been changed before?

Jazz 01-05-2009 11:11 AM

I ran the tst and drag comp (in EZ mode) with the smarty and loved the combo. I don't know about the superchips but I would say the ez is a better combo.jmo. But I never tried the superchips

maybe you should just buy it, run it on the dyno both ways, and let us know. since obviously noone else has tried both

as i said before they are rated at the same power so it's a guess as to which will stack better without trying them out on a dyno.. being that edge or SC won't just give us all the specs on them

i don't know what else anyone is gonna tell ya

Dodgehunter84 01-08-2009 04:12 PM

The nice thing about the SC microtuner is that you can read codes and do a speedo recal.

I got to admit the crazy stack is a Smarty and Edge Comp...

But that my opinion though... My clutch and tires didn't like it for long...:argh:

scottsjeeprolet 01-09-2009 10:20 AM

Ya i had the Smarty /Comp stack and it was great. Kinda miss it. But my main reason for getting rid of the Smarty was i couldn't use the cruise with it.
I ran it on Sw4 comp 3x3 for daily driving, and for tailgaters all i had to do was punch it up to 5x5 and roll the coal!:yeah:
It's a very nice stack as long as you don't use cruise.

I had tried both and preferred superchips over the edge ez. The edge ez kept setting my cel with an overboost code. But I didn't see better power than with superchips. I also felt safer with superchips for some reason. Lastly I like how superchips allows a customization of tire height and speedo. Using edge ez your speedo will be off if you have change tires and rims like I did. Hope this helps you!
