Truck Shut Off Driving Down Highway
 

I was on the highway the other day following a buddy of mine because he wanted to test out my smarty. Well, I was trying to keep up with him so i had the pedal floored. He pulled a quick move to get off the exit ramp so i immediately let off the throttle and slammed on the brakes to make the exit ramp. The truck shut off and I pulled off to the side. At the time i was getting around 10 psi when I was WOT. I tried to start the truck back up and it wasnt happening, so I used the smarty to check the codes and I had a code that said: "no comm. between ECM and injection pump". I unplugged the wiring harness to the injection pump and plugged it back in. also checked all fuses and looked for loose connections. tried to start the truck again and...nothing. had a friend deliver some ether, sprayed it in the turbo and it fired right up. I loaded the smarty back up and I didnt have any codes. I have been driving it for a couple days without any problems. its running good.

any ideas why the truck shut off, or what happened here?

I have heard of this several times where a modded truck is at WOT and when ya drop rappidly to zero throttle it seams to die...............I cant tell ya exactly what is the problem other than a guy needs to do a prime on the fuel system to get it back.

one word of caution with the either, if yer grid heaters kick in you will create a bomb...............I wouldnt use either under any circumstances

Ether should NEVER be used in a vehicle with a pre-heat system for the reason listed above.

That being said, I believe the problem is with the bigger sticks and bailing out of the throttle, just need to remember to easy up, I have never read a scientific explanation of the problem, but I have talked to several people that have had a similar results.

I'm guessin piston wash would cause this. The big sticks and the chip are delivering massive amounts of fuel while you are hammering it and all the sudden you jump off the throttle. That amount of fuel is already enroute through the system and the controls have already been told to stop igniting it. So now the chambers are flooded with unburned fuel just sitting there. Just my opinion on it.
