Thats not new.....I posted about the same harness before...

Uncle Bubba 07-11-2008 10:44 PM

Well ya didn't tell me about it so it's new in my world.:ph: So what was the final verdict on it. It's spose to rain for the next few days so I'm stuck just lookin at it for a while.

For me it was worth the money. My lights could still be brighter but this will give you good bang for your buck.

The harness (at least mine) was a little short and I have to extend some of the wires a little. My harness is still ran on top of the rad and attached to the crossover battery cable - still have to install it properly. Oh yeah, I also removed the fusible links and installed fuses.

No you need a Bright Box to do that or get creative with the wiring under the dash.

With the upgraded harness, the headlights work normally except you get a full 12V at the headlights due to the relays in the harness.

01quadcab 07-18-2008 01:28 AM

ahh so would a bright box and the harness be the best way to go for the brightest light?

Dr. Evil 07-18-2008 09:16 AM

Thats for you to research and decide. I cant really tell you what is the best option because I havent tried them all.

I do know that the harness has worked good for me. Having low and high beams on at the same time is illegal in certain states.

There are other options like upgrading to sport style headlights with 2 bulbs in each light, HID Headlights, new light housings etc.

This harness packaging says that with it installed you can install some kind of higher wattage bulbs. Haven't looked at the details yet.

Dr. Evil 07-18-2008 11:31 AM

Its saying you can use brighter bulbs (if you cant read the Chinese)....I dont think I would go brighter than 65 Watts or so. Im kind of leary putting 90 Watt bulbs in there like they recommend.

Got this thing installed today. I also pulled the headlights out and cleaned them off. I used a buffer with some swirl remover to polish the yellowing and haze off the lens's and they came out much clearer when I was done. Now that it's all installed I have to say that for the money and the hour it took to install the harness and clean the lens's it makes a very noticeable improvement.

When I first turned the lights on I had the passenger side way dimmer then the drivers side. Had to ponder that for a few minutes till we figure out that we didn't have the ground wire hooked up on the passenger side. That was the toughest part of the install. A very simple little operation that I would reccommend for anybody still havin headlight problems.

Doc, don't know why you didn't have enough wire unless they have changed somethin. There was plenty to spare on mine.

hmm think I am going to order one of these. Late night drivin home in the country with lots o deer around better off being able to see.
