Blew Up 3rd Gear

well i was 400 miles from home hanging out with one of my good buddys and we were out crusing in the truck i had just gotten the 4x4 fixed and we were doing a few bosted launches and racking some ricers well we were on our way back to his apartment and i decided to try out the adraline feature for the 0-60 time. spooled up to about 25 psi and let her rip well it hooked up and went like a bat out of hell and around 50 mph i hear a loud bang and then grinding first thing im thinking is oh crap i just blew up my clutch because it was free reving tryed to shift and i stll had 4th gear and could move still and realised i had either stripped the teeth off of 3rd or just shattered the gear im not shure if the trans is still under warrenty but im hopeing it is.. sigh its only money right?:argh:

Mr.Krabs 06-08-2008 10:24 AM

That is what happened to me, the counter shaft broke every tooth off of 3rd gear. No better time to do the auto swap than now. :humm:

lol lol lol
you're funny Zach, why buy a transmission that you can't buy parts for without taking it up the butt. A 4500 can be made bulletproof for much less than a 5600.

I say go auto right now though.:ouch:

Lostnwalmart 06-09-2008 01:02 AM

this was suposed to be a bullet proof nv4500 :ouch: and i really wish i had the $$ to throw down on and auto! ill have this one rebuilt as good as posiible and go from there i guess its just barely out of warrenty :argh:

2001shrtbedcummins 06-09-2008 08:53 AM

I'd still call NADP about, that's who it's from right?

Lostnwalmart 06-10-2008 11:28 AM

yeah but its jsut out of warrenty and this is a tranny they warrentyed once already lol..... :argh:

2001shrtbedcummins 06-10-2008 12:14 PM

and alot stronger too.....the 5600 is way to long .....the 5600 stands in OEM form as one hell of a tranny for towing application

it just kills me when some folks try to use the 6 speed as a racer tranny................its not in the cards man :ouch:.......it just dont work to use something that massive and speed shift it

Cliff..................just rebuild the 4500

Lostnwalmart 06-10-2008 06:55 PM

thats the plan:pca1:

01quadcab 06-10-2008 09:44 PM

Lostnwalmart 06-10-2008 10:45 PM

:humm: I am kinda glad that I didn't win that competition. Hows it coming along, is it covered or do you have to pay? I hope you get it fixed.

Lostnwalmart 06-14-2008 06:00 PM

well im covering it and it should be done this monday or tuesday, had to replace the clutch too..... going bigger is a 4000 lb pressure palte hard to push down?

Diesel Dawgs Performance 06-14-2008 06:26 PM

Your going to have a very firm clutch. :pca1:

Lostnwalmart 06-14-2008 08:39 PM
