Mad Questions
Time to get serious about this stuff and I have some questions still.
If I buy one of the many boxes on the used market are they still compatible with the new programs and functions that the company says are comin out shortly. Can I plug it into any ODBII vehicle to use as a code reader. Is it something that I can just find a good setting and leave it there for the most part or will I have to be continually changing settings for ever driving change. I'm hopin for one setting for every day driving and another for pulling and be done with it. I like simple. I know theres more but that's all I can think of right now. |
Yes, you will be able to update to any new software.
I believe the code reader is keyed to model of software. So, I do not think it would work on say a GM OBDII. Most guys do not change settings as you need to shut down and to do it. This is the shortcoming of the programmer in general. But, yes, you can leave it on a setting that you might like for daily driving and use another for another type of driving or performance. Dave |
Would be a lot nicer if it was a shift on the fly deal. Its kind of a bummer to shut down and load another program.

I'm hopin that by havin the Drag Comp for shift on the fly that will work out. I'm lookin at hay season comin up and need some low end power for this truck in the worst way.

I am currently running an Adrenaline. Very impressed with the bottom end.
I don't know that I will ever put a Smarty back in my truck. There just doesn't seem to be enough programs for the built guys. Dave |
Ive been running the Comp/Smarty stack on my truck for the past month. Today I decided to take off the Smarty. My truck actually runs better with just the Comp.

I run both a programmer and a box and honestly it depends on your driving style. If you are all on and then all off you will not like a programmer because if you set it too high it is difficult to control at times. If you are easy on the skinny pedal then you can most certainly find a spot that works and run with it.
EX: My 2002 has the smarty on 4 and the comp on 1x1 to control the smoke. Runs great with no smoke BUT even on that setting if I stand on the pedal the black will roll out the back. This is likely due to my 150HP sticks mind you. |
